Millwall at home match thread
Red_Alligator replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
I would agree, and if possible I'd like to see us bring a couple of target men in. Not popular with the "modern thinkers" I know, and not young Manning's preferred style I appreciate . BUT - this is Bristol City and not Manchester City. We don't have players with the quality to stroke the ball around the pitch, patiently looking for the pocket to open, for the killer ball, and clinical finish. If we develop such players, they are of course sold onward, and we clearly have neither the mechanism and/or inclination to spend the kind of money needed to bring quality "tippy-tappy" merchants in. Let's get the ball into the opposition's penalty area. It works. Not only in creating chances, but also in taking pressure off of the defence if needed late on - those pesky 93mins+ equaliser/winning goals tend to be less common. Data says so. Onward to unparalleled glory fellow Reds!! Now, where did I put that glass down...... -

A point gained, albeit against a very poor team in "Wayne Rooney's" Birmingham City. Definitely a game to forget. Next. -

Well, it's three points nailed on, isn't it, now that we're on a roll? Oh, hang on, it's Birmingham. Time to end the jinx methinks! COYR!! -
My comments were meant sincerely. Sorry for giving the wrong impression!

Well, I think that we can all agree that the Lansdown ice cream has been well and truly crapped on there.

That's a healthy list Pops! I must admit I hadn't thought of including 4), which is a really good one.

"All for the price of tea and a slice".... Of course Dave, but what is it about BCFC that would make a potential investor want their slice of pie on Ashton Gate crockery?.
-
I often wonder how those tasked with bringing a major investor/s into Bristol City might go about things?. Would it be all about "unfulfilled potential" - a line often taken by commentators when talking/writing about the club and its place in English footballing history?. If so, how exactly would that "potential" manifest itself in real terms?. To be fair there isn't much of a legacy to build on football - wise is there?. I never did understand the "sleeping giant" analogy when applied to us. I'd be genuinely interested to know how folk feel the issue of attracting investment into Bristol City would be best approached?.

Now that's a worthy piece of trivia. Well played from overseas.

Firstly, congratulations for surviving the wider Watford experience. Secondly, glad you had such a rewarding trip!

The Lansdowns - What Do People Actually Want
Red_Alligator replied to Tim Monaghan's topic in Football Chat
Bristol City Football Club playing in the Premier League. Nothing else - Bristol Sport etcetera - is of any interest to me. Shamelessly selfish perhaps, but that's where it's at for me. -
Have we just entered a new period in the history of Bristol City
Red_Alligator replied to Top Robin's topic in Football Chat
A new chapter for sure. But let's not get carried away. For a top six team we're still falling short..... -
Cracking finish. Pleased for Andi. Good player. Solid professional. But we knew that. Didn't we?

Credit where it's due to young Manning. That's as satisfying a festive football feast as I can remember. -

Watford away Boxing Day - only half tickets sold
Red_Alligator replied to Shauntaylor85's topic in Football Chat
Watford On Boxing Day No thanks -
One of those loose phrases bandied about by people who want to sound like they are knowledgeable about contemporary football tactics. It can be used to suggest a number of aspects of what basically boils down to moving players and/or the ball towards the opposition's goal. Technical stuff indeed......

Good grief. Thank goodness for that. Three very valuable points which could well prove vital to us at the end of the season. One of "those" games today. Next. -
Well I've heard that Dennis Bergkamp is leading a consortium, looking for an EFL club to take over? I don't know how credible the story is though so don't quote me on it!

I'm sure I don't deserve the majority of what I've got from Bristol City FC over the many years I've been a supporter!! Won't deter me though. "City till I die" and all that...
