  1. This match has home banker written all over it for the above reason, we have small squad now down to the bare bones and 48 hours recovery time since the last game is a joke. Sorry but in no way can I be positive we will be beaten by fatigue and is no reflection on our season to date.
  2. I too have a dislike for Wolves fans dating back to a pasting received at Molineux in 1972 * after the Uefa Cup Final against Tottenham . * not one to hold grudges but on this occasion totally justified. On a happier note I note their is a close link between their former chairman and Bristol - so well played Sir Jack http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-30809945
  3. Going off at a slight tangent anyone else on here have fond memories of the snooker clubs often found above the Montague Burton shops. Growing up in the 70's frequently spent the school lunch hour at the local club which was a dimly lit smoke filled haze filled with shall we say less than desirable characters at certain times. As I grew up in North London it was frequented by half the Arsenal team and witnessed a game between Charlie George and the Scottish George Best - Peter Marinello before they left for the pub.
  4. I particularly liked this in the comments section below that article. "That's what the fans like to hear - fighting talk - shame you couldn't fight your way out of a paper bag. Got a fiver on Bristol City scoring four or more though I fear it could be worse it was 6-0 last time they played each other. I reckon they will go,one better this time and be in seven heaven."
  5. it would be an interesting and rewarding experience for English literature students as part of their degree to do a compare and contrast question between the opening post and some of NTTDS more esoteric posts.
  6. As an aside just seen that Marc Bolan died 40 years ago this weekend - what greater accolade than to get an honourable mention on a match day thread. City to draw 1-1
  7. Just flippin hope Wolves win -keep Forest in the mire . If it's a straight fight between us and Blackburn not sure I'd be very confident. That game is looming larger on the horizon
  8. My wife bought a hat in Central America’ ~ ‘Panama?’ ~ ‘No, it was a trilby’
  9. Hope I'm wrong but for me OMAR BOGLE's name will feature heavily in the post match inquest. Somewhat perfect symmetry undone by a joke name in this joke of a season with a joke of a manger in charge.
  10. Ah,that old chestnut I can't help but think there's an ulterior meaning. A euphemism, if you will.
  11. The very thought of this being even the most remote possibility has almost brought me to tears.
  12. To be honest I feel a tad cheated no mention of the following:- The flat caps, the whippets, the brass bands playing. The smoking chimneys from real coal fires. The cobbled streets. The dry stone walls. The unspoilt beauty of The Dales. Chips wi’ bits and fizzy pop on t’way home. Beef dripping on bread and a pint of hand-pulled real ale. The curves of a Henry Moore, the colours of a David Hockney and the fast bowling of Fred Trueman. A proper cup o’tea with proper biccies. The neighbours that wave from across the street. The postman that knows your first name. The tastiest grub. The friendliest folk. Emmerdale Farm.Champions of Europe. Apart from these minor omissions as always an excellent read. Thank you
  13. Am I the only one concerned about the Yorkshire Terrier - hope it's alright. I once had a pickled egg stuck in my throat so have every sympathy for the little blighter.
  14. Just the excuse to post that perennial favourite "Two aerials got married. The service was poor but the reception was great"
  15. Wael Al-Qadi confirms the pronounciation of his first name. "It's like Gael as in Clichy, but with a 'w'." Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be whale
  16. I have really no idea what this thread is about any more. Is it Norwegians, Nottingham Forest , xenophobia or Nutters? Can someone please fill me in (not literally), help me to keep up and give guidance?
  17. I beg to differ, may I present exhibit A www.lep.co.uk/news/community/nostalgia/britain-s-first-kentucky-fried-chicken-flies-the-coop-after-49-years-1-6987614 2 nil City
  18. To add a bit of meat to the bone of Havanatopia's original post who would have thought that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid have links to Preston. Butch did emanate from Preston and is said that the spoke with a "Lanky" twang. Born Robert LeRoy Parker in Beaver, Utah on April 13, 1866, Cassidy was the first of 13 children. His Mormon parents had come to Utah from England in 1856, his father came from Preston. http://www.utah.com/adventures/old_west/butch_cassidy.htm Also perhaps more interestingly The first Kentucky Fried Chicken shop in the UK was opened in Preston in 1965 And there was I thinking it was a cultural backwater.
  19. Have to agree with you completely my biggest concern was that without Kieran Agard harrying defenders Wilbs/ Kodger looked static and Fredericks did not seem to drive on like Little - still early days .
  20. I don't have much time for Shakespeare as a rule but hats off to this . Brilliant
  21. "pre date the airport, as far back as the Iron Age in fact", - surely this must be wrong I thought the earliest known airport dated from Tudor times .
  22. A concise message which wins my 'Post of the Day' for its accuracy and brevity.
