  1. That’s what I think. 4-2-3-1 Eliasson - Weiman - Taylor causing mayhem behind Fammy Pack and Brownhill central.
  2. Employers aren’t generally going to pay employees pay rises without increasing revenue. It’s a catch 22 situation. It would be interesting to know what, if any, overall salary increases are being applied to rank and file Bristol Sport employees?
  3. Yes. At at least in Spain they just have B teams playing in the senior football pyramid.
  4. Bobby wouldn’t be playing in the premier league had he been put in a u23 team. He would have left and signed for FGR two years ago. He learnt from playing at the likes of Plymouth. Harry Kane. Did he benefit from experiencing senior football at Millwall, Norwich and Leicester or should he have stayed in a protected u23 academy playing against a range of players from 18yrs old ? i think U23 is waste of time. If it was the answer why are our better prospects like Vyner & McCoulsky out on loan to senior teams and not playing in our U23 team? It’s only happened to allow premier league teams the ability to use them them as another outlet to play the ridiculous amount of young players they are allowed to stockpile.
  5. U23 shouldn’t be academy football. I’ll accept U21 after that you should be in the senior game. Some need to start lower down the leagues and develop, like Vardy and Ian Wright, others are good enough to start at the top, but I’m not having U23 football. Any player, playing regularly at 22 years old in academy football isn’t going to make it.
  6. The model of buy young, sell high and reinvest is not the problem, providing we continue to grow with it. Our ability to pay higher wages should increase year on year, we should be strengthening the first team and squad depth. Now we’re at a stage where it’s likely to take £7-8m + on a player and paying £30k wages and we’ve bottled it and reverted to false economies. Look at what Burnley did with Andre Gray. That’s the point where we should now be at, attracting those players and still keeping with budget and within FFP because of outgoings.
  7. Our team has been lacking a spine for 2 seasons. Hopefully this will force the issue. Either LJ gets the recruitment right and we can push on or we get rolled over every week for a couple of months and he’ll be out. We don’t want to keep a spine that’s failed us for two seasons?
  8. We had Tammy. We struggled that season due to an extremely poor defence of which Flint was the key player, and not through a lack of goals. Flints a good player but for me has reached his level. There will be better, younger players to be had. In our position it’s finding these players that will move us forward.
  9. Boro could be flogging Ben Gibson so I think they’re in for a shock if they think Flint will come in and replace him. For all the negatives about selling to a divisional rival if we get the recruitment right we could end up with a stronger team and Boro with a weaker one. Our track record on signings isn’t great recently so we’re due a diamond!
