  1. Ha ha! Should have spotted that, perhaps not then…
  2. Collier was Bristolian, Horfield lad. Garland coming home from Leicester completed the trio AD brought in to help the promotion squad stay up, with Hunter & Cormack all were excellent signings, Chris’ late burst of goals that year saved us. Fitzpatrick was later on (& not very good).
  3. Interesting that Casa Grande isn’t involved, either.. Expect Dickie & Araoye to be in the squad.
  4. 100%. My old man was very good mates with Ray’s brother John, played football & skittles with him. He took me to 5 or 6 away games that season (I was 12!) & although he probably could have got complementary tickets always insisted on paying.
  5. Yep, story I have been told since was they spent the majority of the time between the Portsmouth & Notts County games in the Baccy Jar in Whitchurch..
  6. Bristol City 1 (Whitehead) Portsmouth 0. What a night.
  7. It was Phillipson-Masters, who as you say was a poor man’s Shaun Taylor.
  8. Always liked him, Noggers. Think Coops genius move to switch Keith Curle to defence did for him in BS3, but he was good.
  9. You implied above that the club were doing something wrong in his case. Ayman’s ACLs both occurred during the Rennie era, a bloke whose medical experience stands up to scrutiny compared to anyone in the game. Since he left the club has understandably been incredibly cautious with Ayman, as I said he’s played half of 2 games but cannot stay fit. Really interested in what you think we should have done differently in his case. The review is understandable in light of Atkinson & to an extent Naismith, I don’t see the connection with Ayman at all.
  10. Really easy to say mindless stuff this. He has played 45 minutes twice for the 21s now with a lengthy gap between games. What exactly we are supposed to do when 2 ACLs has meant that after all this time he appears unable to play more than half a game without doing his hamstring, I have no idea. Do you? Terrible for him but sometimes it makes absolutely no difference what plan you have if a player has an injury he cannot overcome.
  11. Now been officially confirmed what a few of us knew, Benarous picked up another hamstring injury in his second 21s appearance & his season is over. Do fear the worst for him, his two 45 minute appearances were spread out over a fortnight & he still can’t stay fit. Has another year on his deal but certainly can’t be someone Manning can factor in as being available in 24/25.
  12. Yes, a regular in the Nova Scotia & very nice bloke. Used to speak to him regularly when I went in there.
  13. Should have taken the head coach role himself then. Probably not in reality, seeing his in depth knowledge of the football industry is the major reason we have flatlined under him for 20+ years despite spending £200m. ”Trust me on Tinnion”, the ludicrous appointment of Dean Holden, FFS. Just sell up & spend even more time In Guernsey.
  14. Don’t know what he was basing that on? Signing Atteveld? Brian Mitchell? Swapping Andy May for the donkey that was Dave Thompson? Bloke was poor.
  15. Back in full time training & expected to be in the squad for their next match at Cambridge.
  16. Sheffield Wednesday & Plymouth this year are scrapping to stay up & one of them is very likely to return to league one.
  17. Huge congratulations to them, been away a while. As an indication of how much it has changed since & with Rotherham already relegated, can only think of Plymouth & QPR who will have a smaller capacity.
  18. 6526, **** me. Not so much a crowd, more an audience.
  19. It wasn’t dubious. I do wonder though whether Nige (who I liked a lot) was someone many referees took against, as the number of clear cut ones we were denied in his time in charge was incredible.
  20. Unlikely! My view (moving from Dolman to Lansdown) is slightly less central & a little bit lower down. I’m moving with 4 others, who are used to my rants, but I’ll be interested to see how others react..
  21. Yep- I renewed last week & also changed stand. I didn’t wait for the swap your seat date, I simply bought a seat that didn’t have a ST holder in it this season.
  22. Although it says “thy” it is very clearly sung as “thee”, isn’t it?
  23. Anyone who doesn’t think “Drink up thee cider” is one of the greatest songs written is: 1) not from the West Country 2) weird.
