  1. I’m always fascinated by the swings in opinion that occur with different performances. I try to be a bit more balanced - hence the contrarian comments I’ve made above; ie don’t overreact to a couple of good performances, or a couple of bad ones. There have been hundreds of comments on OTIB about how weak our squad is now, and how NP can’t be expected to improve results quickly when previous managers/CEO have left us with such awful players. I don’t really buy into that. How can such posters square their comments when they start to see improved performances? Do they think NP is now a miracle worker or do they change their minds about the quality of the squad? Personally I’ve always thought we have a fair squad, capable of another mid table finish if they get their act together.
  2. Be fair, it’s only the fans that are really trying. The club itself isn’t making the effort at all.
  3. Well I hope so. Or you could just describe our form as patchy and inconsistent - we may just be in a good patch just now, without any real trend. We’ll see.
  4. True. But it’s also true that we have been abysmal for a lot of this season, and the improvement has only been noticeable for a few weeks. A bit early to be celebrating turning the corner. Fingers crossed though!
  5. When bottles were glass, this was really dangerous and pretty rare. When they’re plastic and empty, they’re about as dangerous as thrown cushions. I think the indignation about this is overdone - and I’m a lily livered, middle aged inoffensive virtual pacifist. Don’t get me wrong, throwing coins or anything really dangerous is despicable. Throwing empty plastic bottles though - not so much.
  6. Pearson evidently likes him and he’s finally being played in a role that suits him.
  7. Even so, I doubt her annual salary will cover what he earns in a month.
  8. So, in short, are we saying that the administrators have to effect the best sale available (financially) for the creditors, which would ignore the way this affects Middlesbrough and Wycombe as “football creditors”? But that doing this would possibly lead the EFL to saying “you broke our rules so you can’t play in our league”? If so, that would in reality prevent any buyer proceeding, no?
  9. I’d love to keep HNM but I don’t think our finances are a major factor here. He came to England to get time in a first team, hopefully a team with a chance of promotion. The last part has fallen flat and now he may have an offer to play in the German top flight. If the money is good and he is promised a first team squad place, why would he stay?
  10. You do realise that being fully vaccinated doesn’t stop you getting Covid? It only lessens the effects.
  11. But if convicted, perhaps they could sue for return of his pay from the time he was unavailable to play ( or even the date of the first offence)?
  12. There could be a lot of debt as well as assets. If the buyer is taking on the debt, perhaps the price is for the equity - ie the net assets, not the gross assets.
  13. There’s some bizarre logic amongst football fans. I expect you actually admire opposition fans if they turn up in their colours, sing loudly and keep in their allotted space? They’re good fans right? If you meet one of those in a neutral pub and they’re friendly, perhaps you’d discuss the match over a pint. But if one turns up in “our territory” then they’ve suddenly become a threat? Even a woman in a neutral shirt? Barmy.
  14. I would have gone, but left ticket buying late. Now I’ve tested positive on an LFT - which I more than likely picked up at the QPR game.
  15. In 2018 his name came up several times in the Transfer Forum when we were looking for a keeper and he was at Ipswich, I think. DaveFevs basically said he was a good keeper but not good with his feet! I thought we might go for him but he ended up at Millwall. Seems like his kicking hasn’t improved.
  16. Exactly. You should be celebrating helping your current team, regardless of anything else.
  17. This has to be the one main issue that went hopelessly wrong during the redevelopment. The idea that we had no site for a decent shop - when we have huge indoor areas behind three stands - is amazing. Presumably the concourses were left deliberately empty for non football hirings.
  18. Well the thread is about people who would get a bad reception if they returned, which I’m sure Junior wouldn’t. As for his record, he was with us from 1990-97, with 183 appearances, much of that time at the level we are at now. Obviously we must have had a lot of deluded managers to keep picking him so often! Imperfect yes, but a valuable player over many years.
  19. I find it hard to believe that someone has included Junior Bent in this thread. Useful player, lovely bloke, fondly remembered - rather like Albert Adomah for another generation.
  20. Depends on your definition! His dad was a black GI who had to return to the US without him.
  21. Actually I disagree. You may be sure that someone has died, but unsure it was murder, so that murder is alleged but unproven. The same with sex and rape. In fact you can use “alleged” or “allegation” with most offences, surely? I’ve just googled “alleged murder” and came up with lots of press reports.
  22. Yep. Imagine what this forum would be like if we ACTUALLY had a bad owner. Like one of the foreign ones who would rock up if SL really decided to sell.
  23. The last time one of our players got into the opposition penalty box?
  24. I had a work colleague who used to go to Ashton Gate with JP when they were both about 10. About 1970 I suppose.
