  1. So sorry to read this, that's an awful way for an employer to treat you. You should contact ACAS for advice. The company should have done a workplace risk assessment if the job was impinging on your well being, and taken reasonable steps to assist with overcoming the problems.
  2. Meanwhile, Raith Rovers have signed rapist David Goodwillie - and their CEO, who presumably would have sanctioned this, is female. Prosecuters did not pursue the case through the Courts, but Godwillie and another player were ordered to each pay the victim £50,000 through a civil court hearing. Life long supporter, novelist Val McDermid will no longer sponsor their shirts, and has destroyed her season ticket.
  3. "She doesn't look too scared though, .... " Well, I'd bet my house that she looked bloody scared when it was actually happening. By putting it on social media, he won't dare to do anything else to her, whereas if it was kept between her, him and the police - she probably wouldn't feel so safe, also a little bit of a time lapse waiting for the police intervention could be frightening for her. I would want to name and shame the bastard as far and wide as I could - she's been very brave to speak out, and I hope he gets everything he deserves.
  4. Correct. 5 year ago I became very ill, and ended up being blue lighted to hospital. After days of tests, they found that my heart was enlarged because it had been damaged by a virus, this then caused the heart not to pump properly, which had led to a silent heart attack - which I was unaware of at the time, as I didn't have the normal symptoms. I'm in heart failure for life now, as my heart cannot be repaired, just helped a bit by loads of medication, and I really hope that this won't be the outcome for the Sunderland keeper. LJ did say that it was heavily weighted towards Covid having caused it, and I think that the DM did their usual thing of asking a leading question, and then fleshing out the transcript of the interview to make it sound contreversial. Stay safe.
  5. Totally with you on that - it hit some very raw memories for me. I'm just about to start series 3.
  6. When Rovers played at Twerton Park, I worked in the Cardiac Centre at the RUH, and, for evening games in the winter, you could virtually guarantee that we would get at least one admission from the ground. Damaged hearts do not work well in cold weather.
  7. Pleased to hear that your Dad is ok, and has received the treatment necessary to allow him to go home. They do amazing things with heart treatment these days. I had a silent heart attack 3 years ago, and they were able to identify the cause, and prescribe medication to keep everything in order. Best wishes to your Dad, and I hope that you can feel some positivity now that he's coming home.
  8. Sorry to hear about what you've been through Matt. A few years ago my son had an operation on his back and they filled the wound with packing, which had to be changed daily. He was able to go to the local walk in centre to have this done, we only found this out by accident when one of the regular nurses didn't turn up at home, and after several hours he was in a lot of pain because the packing was starting to stick to the wound. It might be worth you looking into this. Good luck.
  9. Heartbreaking for you. You'll probably be surprised at the strength you wife finds to cope with the situation, it's really good to hear that you're having memorable conversations, as you say, cherish every moment. Thoughts are with you and your family. x
  10. I'm not responsible for, or necessarily in agreement with, everything which is said or done by my fellow supporters. I've always tried to be honest when commenting on things which have happened at the club, be they good or bad. @Bar BS3seems to have a bit of personal vendetta, unfortunately without any wit to make it entertaining. I totally get that it seems a bit odd that I post on here, although, for me, it's largely been a positive experience.
  11. I quite agree. It was just an off the cuff comment in response to the original poster, as he was talking out of his arse by suggesting that £6k home fans was a ridiculous figure for a league two game.
  12. I bow to your superior knowledge on this, I don't have in depth knowledge about our historic attendance figures. For as long as I've been interested in football, I think you've usually had larger crowds, so it's not something I particularly focus on.
  13. Of course, you were still getting 20,000 at Ashton Gate when you were in the old 4th division. Very generous of you.
  14. No, I don't cringe with embarrassment, yes, it may be tinpot, or whatever other insult you wish to use, but it's my tinpot club.
  15. Fair to say that I don't think they'll be our strongest test this season!
  16. First half was the best we've seen for a long time - not that the bar is set very high in that respect. Oldham made some changes for 2nd half, and came into the game more, but overall a promising performance. It's good to have fans back in the grounds, maybe normality is gradually returning.
  17. I'll take you word for it - haven't read it. Forums can get a bit tedious when school's out.
  18. Apologies, I do know of Massengo, he came from Monaco (I think) and made a generous donation to one of the fundraising efforts. Rumour was that you were "babysitting" him for Chelsea, until their transfer ban ended - but obviously not!
  19. My original post was in response to somebody who didn't know who Chris Lines was, and I said it's pretty much the same for me with current City players, because the two clubs have not played each other for a long time, so I have no reason to be up to date with who is in your squad. I could probably name your complete team which got promoted to the old Division One, along with a lot of players from the 1980's, 1990's, and maybe a bit later. These days there is nothing in common, unless we get drawn together in a cup again. I do spend quite a lot of time on here, I've said before that there are some interesting debates, and the humour is generally good. I'm mainly in this thread or the mental health one, along with any more general football related threads which may catch my interest. Sorry if I have offended you with my lack of knowledge - I'm just being honest. I wouldn't expect many people on here to know our current (or recent) players.
  20. I'm at that age where I can remember players from the 1970's, but couldn't tell you what happened yesterday! ?
  21. I did hear it mentioned in commentary that there was a Bristol City player in one of the teams, but can't remember which country, never mind the player's name. The same with a lot of players who played for other countries, watching a match for 90 minutes doesn't ingrain the names in the brain forever.
  22. To be honest I don't take a great interest in international football these days, certainly not enough to remember the names of players, unless it's somebody like Messi or Ronaldo. I do remember Tammy Abram from when he was on loan with you. I didn't say I'd never hear of any of your players, just that I wouldn't be able to name or recognise them, I'm sure I will have read some of their names somewhere at some point, but not enough to memorise them.
  23. Apart from your manager, the only person at BCFC that I could name or recognise is Scott Murray. When we haven't played each other for a fair number of years, there's no reason for either set of fans to be aware of who plays for the other team. Whereas going back to the days of regular derby matches, I could still probably name around 75% of your players.
  24. From memory, I think that a parent complained because a coach swore at their child during a training session for one of the younger teams. The complaint was dealt with by the club, however, the SC turned it into a Child Protection matter and based their report to the EFL on this. The SC have some great volunteers, however, the hierarchy are stuck in 1975, when they got special treatment for doing the bidding of the Board. They are not open to new ideas, and it's literally a case of "repel all boarders" if somebody with fresh ideas expresses an interest in joining the Committee. They've never been a mouthpiece for the fans in the past, not wanting to upset the apple cart in case their noses were removed from the trough. They got in a huff when Wael arrived, because the Chairman of the SC was not one of the first people he arranged to meet, and they've reinforced their dislike whenever possible. I know it's not perfect, but looking in from the outside, yours Fans Trust seems much more focused on representing the views of the fanbase, and liaising with the club in a civil manner.
  25. They forgot to mention that the SC previously reported Wael to the EFL as not being a fit and proper owner, that the Fan's Director on the Board had to be asked to stand down as he didn't respect confidentiality, that, although they had the chance to elect another fan to the position, they haven't bothered. They've never liked Wael, and now they are reaping what they have sown.
