  1. When all the truth comes out about Nigel Pearson's departure, the final story might not be quite the Disney film that some people are expecting, full of heroes and villains. Maybe, just maybe, Jon Lansdown is not a bumbling buffoon, perhaps Brian Tinnion is not actually an evil schemer and, possibly, Nigel isn't the ideal employee everyone would want to have working for them.
  2. New material needed for slagging off "the hierarchy".
  3. Not wishing to be a pedant, but is there such a thing as a little exodus?
  4. The other bloke (Toby?) just finished the programme by sayings "We'll be back on Saturday for Bristol's trip to Norwich". Odd.
  5. The preference of those who were a lot closer to him was to try somebody else. If LM had performed as well in the league as in the cup, we would not be having this discussion and City-related social media would be a much less unpleasant place.
  6. Was NP really behaving in a way that suggested he would cooperate in an "orderly transition"?
  7. They do, which is why he said "aim" not "expectation".
  8. The easier option was to renew his contract. They would have saved themselves a lot of flak. They thought that getting someone else in would be better for the club. The CEO, who had been in the job for what, weeks? just said what he thought was the right thing to say at the time. It reminds me of when Bernd Schuster was managing Real Madrid and, when asked whether they could beat Barcelona in the next game, he said that was "impossible". He was sacked a couple of days later.
  9. If he said anything else, he would have been pilloried and rightly so. How we have gone from this glib comment to a general feeling of entitlement to promotion is simply baffling.
  10. Not "we promise to get promotion this season".
  11. They promised promotion this season?
  12. I think the "top six" idea is over three years. NP didn't manage it and they doubted he would achieve it if he was given three more. They took a punt on LM but did not promise top six after a few months.
  13. Excellent stuff from David. It could be titled "A Nerd's Guide To Beating Bristol City".
  14. The podcast is great to listen to, particularly the first few minutes, and Ian's lack of love for Big Nige is refreshing. They make it look very easy but I'm sure it's a lot easier to do a crap podcast. Keep up the good work and thanks for the effort.
  15. The one about City going into liquidation was a cracker (going back a bit).
  16. Even now after all these years do I still find it comforting that RR can wheel out his "can't understand the difference between news and a rumour" routine and still raise a smile.
  17. I presume DB is taking over from Lisa Knights who has been appointed CEO of Bristol Flyers. As for Adam Baker, yes, please bring him back. Interviews have gone down the toilet since he left.
  18. I really hope the team's performance and results pick up soon and that this appalling campaign to bully Jon Lansdown comes to an abrupt halt.
  19. A few "front foot" references. His main line was something about getting somewhere in a certain way and how there was a great fit between his vision and the club's vision of how to get to this mystical place. A sort of a rehash of the bus metaphor but without the bus.
  20. Came across as a brilliant bloke. Very sorry to see him go and I hope he gets a rewarding job somewhere else.
  21. Can't wait to buy a home in Portishead. Been a Wurzels fan since I was a boy.
  22. I agree. Nothing wrong with sacking a manager. The problem is when you appoint a worse option which, although likely, hasn't happened yet.
  23. Stereo Models: featuring Russell Thomas from Portishead.
