  1. Interesting how consistent we've been over the last 3 seasons after 30 games. Our 3 new recuits may make all the difference this year (here's hoping). Current vs previous seasons records (first 30 matches only) Bristol City after 30 matches in the same league / division GP W D L GF GA Pts * Comparison 2019-2020 30 14 8 8 44 40 50 - 2018-2019 30 14 8 8 38 29 50 0 pts 2017-2018 30 14 9 7 42 33 51 -1 pts 2016-2017 30 9 5 16 41 44 32 + 18 pts 2015-2016 30 6 10 14 25 47 28 + 22 pts 2012-2013 30 8 4 18 42 58 28 + 22 pts 2011-2012 30 8 6 16 25 44 30 + 20 pts 2010-2011 30 9 8 13 35 44 35 + 15 pts
  2. As we often complain we don't get enough national coverage, maybe a good thing for once.
  3. A good little snippet on the Championship page of BBC Sport today about our good run and 5 City players scoring for different EFL clubs yesterday: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51344082 Streaky Johnson strikes again They say momentum is huge in football and there's probably no manager or head coach out there who exemplifies that more than Bristol City boss Lee Johnson. A club record eight successive league defeats in 2016-17, nine wins in a row across all competitions last season and now four consecutive victories without conceding a goal for the first time since 1990. Saturday's 1-0 success at Queens Park Rangers has also kept "streaky Johnson" and his team firmly in the promotion race, cutting the gap to the top two to five points. Famara Diedhiou scored the Robins' winner in west London - and was remarkably one of five Bristol City players to score for different EFL clubs on Saturday. The Ashton Gate outfit have numerous players out on loan across tiers two, three and four, and many of them were among the goals. Liam Walsh scored Coventry's winner against Bristol Rovers, Tyreeq Bakinson netted in Plymouth's victory over Newport, Jonny Smith grabbed one in Oldham's 3-0 thrashing of Bradford and Sammie Szmodics scored a brace as Peterborough hammered Ipswich 4-0. One Bristol City player who didn't score, however, was Nahki Wells. The Bermuda forward came off the bench to make his debut against QPR, the club with whom he spent the first half of the season with before being recalled by Burnley and subsequently sold to City.
  4. Based on last 8 games from Soccerstats which includes part of bad run. 5. Can't even see how to access audio commentary today - seems to have disappeared. Sent an email but probably will get a response on Monday!
  6. At the time of the plans SL said he considered building to 35k including Atyeo but they decided against it. Presumably on the basis of lets fill 27k first. No idea what they can do without buying all the houses behind though. I’d have thought it’d be quite limited so as not to be financially worthwhile for the degree of expanded capacity.
  7. Pleased we’ve got Benik onboard. He’s proved what he can do at Mk Dons and Wolves and a couple of years ago we’d never have been able to sign him. He’s a player I’d have loved the club to sign in the past. OK so he’s not done as well at Stoke with off field problems no doubt contributing. He says sleeping better and lost weight, fitter etc and looking to show us the old Benik. Think this could be a very good signing for us.
  8. Was going to pay for standard Now tv day pass so great to get a week pass for £2.69. Easy to enter code into account and worked perfectly!
  9. Seems to be happening - very interesting signing http://www.insidefutbol.com/2019/08/03/bristol-city-agree-fee-for-promising-monaco-youngster/432268/
  10. Very pleased with this signing. Felt a few years ago we should've gone for him when at Southend but City didn't seem to want to invest in the keeper position in the same way as an outfield player. Can be worth several points a season with a good keeper. Welcome DB.
  11. Thought Millwall were playing some US outfit for a minute there. Can only see a Derby win unfortunately but stranger things have happened. Let’s hope it’s an away win.
  12. Perhaps he should be left to negotiate contracts but not to head or be involved with recruitment. Leave that to DOF?
  13. Interesting team building arranged by the manager, Gary Caldwell - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46405477 The last paragraph was interesting: "The manager's got a saying - get comfortable being uncomfortable. You have to find ways of coping and dealing with pressures that come along. The army base was certainly uncomfortable but we all found a way to get through every exercise they gave us and we finished it very strongly." A bit different than going to Dubai in the international break!
  14. Yes, the bingo builder. He's signed 40-50 and still trying to find the right combination. More meat for the grinder. He'll be saying this over and over again until SL (eventually) puts him out of our misery! He does seem to be "ready to trade" so who knows what the cat will drag in. Have little confidence we'll up the quality which is what's desperately needed.
  15. I’d agree but just the robin without the BC. Perhaps a surreptitious release to gauge informal opinion when largely decision made? Could be wrong but did cross my mind.
  16. The top image is probably the best of the recent new drafts imo. Very simple and no need for our name or date. I’d have the robin facing right though. Not a fan of the image Magic Man posted. Just too fussy trying to get the name, date, bridge, robin and football in. Can see BS going for something much simpler going by the Bears re-brand anyway. Really hope it’s not something like Concorde though.
  17. Best badges are simple and instantly recognisable like Forest and Wolves. Would be delighted to dump the crest which is for the City of Bristol and not Bristol City (IMO). Updated robin and suspension bridge would be nice as the bridge differentiates us from other clubs with a robin but any decent robin badge without the crest. No need for date either.
  18. I know, Glen, and that’s what’s partly holding us back too imo. If SL’s not willing to come out of his comfort zone, then we need a far more effective and experienced manager who he thinks he can get on with to work within the set parameters. Surely, it would be preferable if SL appointed the best manager/coach he could get and let him get on with it with less interference?
  19. Maybe he should take McCallister and Ashton with him too. As well as experienced manager (UK or foreign) bring in experienced DOF to review recruitment strategy and scouting network too as that clearly needs to improve. This assumes that SL is willing to review his own strategy of course which may be whistling in the wind.
  20. 3 holes in the ground as my dad used to say! Yes really unexpected result. The sending off helped us but well done to the boys for nicking this one - a much needed win. Hope MOL enjoyed his Championship debut, clean sheet too. Well done all round.
  21. GJ seems to be giving Torquay Utd a lift winning 4-2 away at Eastbourne. 1 point off playoffs!
  22. Burton 1-0 !! Rovers stay in bottom 4.
  23. Yes please. Forget his panto persona. Players love him and he’s got a track record of promotion that’s second to none. If we’re serious about promotion, he’d be a no brainer IMO. Trouble is can’t see SL going for him which would mean a change to the strategy and how many more years is he going to carry on for anyway? Probably unrealistic.
  24. Maybe they’ve given up all hope for playing in the EFL and going to join the 5 a side league instead....
