I have always been a great believer in lucky underpants - imagine the "force being with us" is we all wore them! A perfect invisible advantage!

Mike Gibson was very short and was a magnificent goal keeper. Even the current England 'keeper is fairly short. Have faith!

If you add the time he takes to do all his research, he must spend most of his waking time on the forum and on football matters in general. He is very good at it though.

How many good decisions have the Lansdowns made
Bat Fastard replied to BigAl&Toby's topic in Football Chat
It should be pointed out that he is still the owner and may still reap the rewards for his great investments. In the 56 years that I have followed City, I have never seen anything like the stability given to us by SL and his family. Once the temporary financial issues have receded, there may well be a good platform to push on to the promised land. SL is still in the game! -
This was always going to be a long term project to rebuild our club. If you can liken it to the captain of a trans-Atlantic ship - would you sack him in mid voyage if the ship was caught in a storm? I doubt if his job is as easy as the keyboard warriors on this forum seem to think. We are still afloat and I reckon that Nige will bring the ship safely into port if given the chance.

Looks are not everything

We will soon know if he is good enough if he sacks Nige, re-appoints Little Lee and recruits Colin as a director of football acting.

Sadly the transfer market outside the Premier League completely collapsed and we could no longer stem losses by selling players, let alone spending to improve the team. It may take a year or two longer for all this to improve and in the meantime we have lots of excellent youngsters from the Academy, who will take time to find their feet and become steady players at Championship level. Seeds have been sown and we still have too many seedlings and not enough mature plants - but seedlings tend to grow!

The fact that he was unlucky with the timing of the pandemic and the fact that it ruined the plan to be self sufficient by judicious player trading, I would suggest that there is a magnificent foundation for the eventual advancement of the playing squad and hopefully promotion. Nige has been dealt a rotten hand and is still building a squad on a shoestring and making great use of the academy. We have seen duff periods in our history over the years and we now have the ingredients to make progress. Of course, the missing ingredient is patience amongst the fan base - but that has always been a feature of our club.

Every change of ownership is a huge gamble - the devil you know for the devil you don't know. We will not have a choice in any of this because it will be between SL and the new people. We just have to hope that we end up better off. You are right about elements like timing and the various events that have troubled the past few years but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that SL will invest in the squad again when the circumstances and FFP permit.

Apart from the beautiful stadium, the state of the art training ground, the excellent academy and the fact that we have lasted in the Championship- what have the Lansdowns ever done for us??

Glen Humphries should have been in that game, along with Dave Martin.

In a match at Ashton Gate, Freeman was sent off for a high boot. We don't even get a foul, let alone a penalty.

I wonder if our groundsman will even bother to paint the penalty spots. -
I wonder if he will explain to Indian referees that Bristol City should never be awarded a penalty?

Sadly, we cannot bring back Sam Hollis, so Nige will just have to do! Ranked: Bristol City’s top 5 best managers just by looking at their win percentages | Football League World

Can you express that in percentile terms?
-
A placebo - until the youngsters can come to our rescue. We can't afford anything else at the present time. May change after the end of the season. Let's hope we are still alive!
-
Roy knows stuff! Maybe time for some techno-babble! Bring back Lee Johnson!
-
Or maybe both?

Maybe it is "percentile dysfunction"?
