  1. It's more than disingenuous it's a distortion of the truth. It was clear in pre-season that Nigel was going to play Scott in an attacking role. He was seen as the key player. Implying that Nigel wasn't that bothered is nonsense. If it wasn't for the lack of spelling mistakes this could have been written by Tinnion.
  2. Basso turned down a new contract, despite his agent urging him to sign, as he was convinced Premier League clubs wanted him. Not so but it's a shame it ended badly.
  3. Q. Can you spell? A. Yes of course. Q. Sorry, you're over qualified.
  4. A bit dismissive perhaps. When I was working I came across plenty of people, including senior ones, who could barely open an Excel file let alone use Python, R and the like! But I agree with your sentiment by and large. As per the statisticians' mantra: Data is not information Information is not Knowledge Knowledge is not wisdom.
  5. As a manager he's won titles in Europe's top 5 leagues and won 4 Champions League finals out of 5. Nobody can compare.
  6. VAR cannot intervene once the ref has blown the whistle for offside. Perhaps he should have ignored the flag until the move was over but the assistant should never get another Champions League game.
  7. This seems familiar. Asked to expand on how his ideas differed from those of Rosenior, Ilicali said: "I want offensive football. I want an attacking, entertaining team. I said it from the first minute I bought this club." "My football brain is completely full of a successful and entertaining football style. Liam has a great philosophy but there are different styles of football in the world - Liam's direction can be successful but we want to see different things. No mention of front foot though. Loser!
  8. The minority shareholders seem miffed! Naturally they say the PL can't regulate (I wonder why?) but they are right that they should put an end to the 777 Partners bid given the latest allegations. But the blame sits with Moshiri who is getting off lightly. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/07/everton-shareholders-demand-end-to-farce-of-777-takeover And for the best in-depth coverage I recommend Josimar and the excellent Philippe Auclair https://josimarfootball.com/2024/04/30/kind-of-blue/
  9. More likely they will claim that the Appeal Board Chair is a Luton fan.
  10. Indeed, if you set no explicit target or set a vague one (like 'top end') you can claim success on your own terms, so you can't be easily held to account. They may regard this as clever thinking but it's easily seen through.
  11. I assume he was second choice as they couldn't get fitness and conditioning expert Jon Lansdown.
  12. Does Steve admit to mistakes? After all we're now into Judge Me On Tinnion - Reloaded.
  13. Me neither but some fans seem prepared to ignore off the field matters or at least had no idea of the disastrous position we were in. Mind you the hierarchy have never admitted their culpability and certainly never credited RG and NP with digging them out of a hole. So maybe it's not surprising that some fans don't get it.
  14. I think you misunderstand Nigel's point. He would have set out the profile of player he wanted and the analysts would have come up with viable options. He would state his preferences then talks would begin. Negotiating with agents would then fall to e.g. the Technical Director/Chief Executive. You really don't want the Manager agreeing wages and contracts. Those days are gone. At some point Nigel would have met the player to assess his character and persuade him to join. So he wouldn't need to deal with agents.
  15. How joined up are the key people I wonder? Tinnion wants an aggressive front foot style, Manning seems to prefer 'control '. It's been made clear we don't intend to spend lots this summer but Manning wants more, being particularly desperate to sign Twine. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.
  16. We can be confident they went through a rigorous 6 week process with quality candidates from all over the world applying before coming to the objective conclusion that Jon and Brian were the best. And good humans of course.
  17. You say utopian, I say it's how a well run club would be managed. Smooth, planned, efficient doesn't immediately bring Bristol City to mind does it?
  18. They do rather tie themselves in knots. 11th under Nigel would be under achieving and a sackable offence. The same under Manning is only just below expectations. They are so inept they can't even lie consistently.
  19. Tbf Danny Röhl coached at RB Leipzig, Southampton and Bayern Munich and was assistant manager to the German national team. Not quite as good as MK Dons perhaps but not a bad CV.
  20. And Manning is McKenna's clone presumably. Though McKenna only won 2 of his first 12 games*. *Tinnion said so, so it must be true.
  21. We can all cherry pick games. I'll pick Huddersfield and Stoke. There you go, we're going down next season. Anyway you forgot Southampton!
  22. McKenna will be manager of the season and rightly so but Danny Röhl and Martí Cifuentes have both done a brilliant job. Not that either is as good as Liam Manning of course.
  23. Jon will now say that 11th is exactly what he meant by "top end".
  24. Dream on, we've been told we are looking to sign 1 or 2 and that we are going to have to be smarter than other clubs in "finding value", i.e.cheap signings. Though given that Manning is practically begging to sign Twine there may not be much budget left.
