  1. I am amazed he's not been given a run in the U21s. When you think a few of the first team who actually play, notably Kahki , have had a run out for them just to get minutes. Training is one thing, but surely seeing him in a match would be good, even if it is one the U21.
  2. I'm guessing he was known to be a real prospect from his academy days, the time at Westerlo could have been for many reasons . It may have been a punt . When he came in he was unknown to everyone , now he's been looked at he obviously isn't pressing for a start , but I wonder if it's just saving face by having him on the bench or just no one else to be there. I saw a Tweet saying yesterday was the first time we didn't have an academy player on the bench and we still didn't fill it. He does give an option at least.
  3. Realistically thinking , most of that budget will go on just getting a squad together, let alone one to challenge . "12 permanently contracted players have deals that are set to expire this summer while there are also six first-team loanees" So possibly losing 18 members of your squad and wanting to recruit one to challenge ? I thought Taylor was a good appointment, but he has his work cut out.
  4. The difference is Reid and Semenyo could be seen playing. We could see Semenyo for Newport and Reid had played about 30 games before his breakthrough year . Mebude was brought in by the Manager who sees him every day in training, he has given him a couple of short run outs but doesn't think he's worth a run even in a game that's virtually over. I think people are going to draw ( the obvious ? ) conclusions .
  5. With what has gone on I lost track of the roles / positions. I would love to know how those roles work here now, and do we have a TD or DoF as such ? Semantics and titles don't matter that much at the end of the day, but knowing that our sausage machine ( ©Fevs ) has a decent structure would be settling .
  6. Interesting , not sure if I qualify as anti City or parochial . I heard rumours of Tinnion a long time ago, but it was from players and they might have agendas of their own. But do you really believe he has deserved his recent rapid promotion From loan manager to near enough CEO ? As for Pearson , he did nothing to save his job, maybe brought the situation to a head, but in his position and you see/feel what is going to happen you might want to force someone to back or sack you . There are a few on here are not convinced that Jon alone would have stood up and sacked Pearson. That could mean Steve had his back, but as he looked to Tinnion for football decisions it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Tinnion had a say. We might never know what happened, I want to read Pearsons biography as soon as he writes it, same with Coppel and even LJ . Until then I doubt there be much info coming out which means people and opinions , that's the forum.
  7. Depending how Manning sees it, it could change our targets for the summer. Roberts bombing on from LCB and linking with Pring looks like a real potent weapon. I wonder if we look for LWB cover and Roberts gets that CB role. With Tanner as a RB he has usually 1 option in front of him , that's not always a safe pass and he does play safe. From RCB he has looked to play forward a little more IMO . With Atkinson , Dickie , Vyner and Roberts genuine options. Plus Naismith & possibly Knight - Lebel , it might be we sign a back up CB, all those first 4 will see themselves as starters and if we ever go injury free for a while it would be enough IMO. Tough one> All about opinions , I think he is one of the few who is happy to try those cross field passes. Yes some don't come off but it's a big plus when they do. The shorter passes he has got wrong, well , they've all done that at times. I think his mobility and pace have been important and having Roberts & Vyner either side of Dickie could be a good balance next year. I don't think we can upgrade without spending a lot of money. A lot depends on our budget , Naismith & Atkinsons fitness and if Manning (as he seems) wants a back 3/5.
  8. Wasn't Tinnion still with the Academy last summer ? No such rule , about anyone. But just like anyone at the Club, whatever their standing, if someone feels they deserve criticism they will give it. You may not agree , but that's a forum .
  9. I love the bloke, the one in the team with real edge . Has easily played well enough to earn a new contract. Great point about being a free transfer and you need experience. But to buy experience and a top half performer would be expensive . We should get this done, a no brainer really .
  10. Very good again , if we can do something about those games like last week there is no reason why we can't push on. Played some lovely football, press was good , dominated a decent side for periods and probably deserved to win. Gave up some good chances as usual , but over all defended well. Need some real depth in the squad , but shows we can play. We need to work out how to be like that when we have more possession. We have to give Williams a new contract surely.
  11. That is a ridiculous and bias statement , and also probably true .
  12. WBA losing at Leicester means Norwich can go above the Baggies. Tough game, but one that might suit us more than last week ( straw clutching going on here mind). Looking like 5-3-1-1 / 4-4-1-1 or something like that . Not overly confident , but be nice to see us bugger up their promotion push .
  13. I've renewed , but I'm the same as you about next year. With the potential of games being moved and if we stagnate the 24/25 season Ticket might be a step too far. Felt like I was back to only going for the social side a lot of this year.
  14. I was wondering earlier, will any Championship sides make a statement . Would the perspective or ex Prem sides feel they have to tow the Party line ? When you get down to it, it's the top sides that have been pushing for fewer domestic games , the ones that want more Euro involvement or lucrative tours . Dress it up how you want , they are all about the money and don't care about the vast majority of Clubs.
  15. This is an interesting interview, whatever you think of the bloke . Great question asked , there are 20 Prem clubs, and 792 Clubs enter the FA Cup is that fair. He is diplomatic by saying it's the FA's comp and their decision. A decision made by the FA with input by the Prem , was never going to take any other Clubs into account. Would be great if the EFL said bollox to the FA Cup we will open the League Cup to those Clubs who normally enter the FA Cup. Won't happen , but would be great to see some fight back.
  16. The women's Man Utd home game had 14,138 . More than the capacity of the Mem , that they can't sell out anyway .
  17. To add some balance , apparently hamstring problems after ACL surgery is fairly common. Hamstring pain is common and I read part of a report that said ... Persistent hamstring contracture ( shortening or hardening of muscles) after ACLR is associated with an increased risk of subsequent Cyclops syndrome. Cyclops syndrome is caused by a scar tissue nodule adjacent to the tibial tunnel of the anterior cruciate ligament graft after surgery. These lesions result in pain and loss of extension with impingement of the lesion. There is also no difference from a study, between age, gender , time of injury or proportion of professional athletes . No good news in there, but at least it's necessarily not down to being injury prone or bad post op care. @spudski I also read that if they did use part of the Hamstring, it can grow back shorter, which you would think could cause problems stretching or twisting.
  18. For some reason everything I typed disappeared. Anyway , basically that it is to benefit smaller Clubs is bullshit as they haven't been consulted . While I get that it's a bust schedule , all this is doing is making space for a few top teams to make space for European games. Small Clubs have made Club saving Cup runs for years. Those replays , with TV , extra revenue advertising and profile raising games have been vitally important for decades . The worst thing is they are saying it is done to benefit the smaller Clubs , bullshit , they didn't even consult the "smaller" Clubs.
  19. It varies for me . Upton Park good , London Stadium bad for a start , but it's not that straight forward . I like QPR's ground . Old school , I've found a spot with a decent view (lower tier ) and QPR mates & family make it a great day. Facilities are shite though. MK stadium , loads of room and decent view but even with 5,000 up there it wasn't great. I do like grounds closer to the pitch , reasonable size concourse & toilets and not a million miles from the Town/station .
  20. Apparently 272 Cambridge fans there last night , doing a bit of charity work by bumping the faithful and true(ly awful ) crowd up . 6526 - 272 = they need a 20,000 all seater stadium really soon Just as well everyone counts the STH not there.
  21. That means one of these two. Osman was Manager from Jan 93 to November 94 apparently. Pretty sure I was at the 3-2 win. The book says Shelton , Bryant & Gavin got our goals.
  22. Used to enjoy going there, great old school ground. Just looked and it was over 20 years ago my last visit
