  1. Manning said they went back 4 after about 20 minutes. It did look like , at least for the first 5/10 mins after the change , that Pring still played WB but Roberts was bombing on from CB . One of the Plymouth Coms said similar. Roberts and Pring seemed to rotate who was further forward for a while , and then settled . LM said they kept the same shape to match how Plymouth had set up all season , and they changed . He wanted to get higher up the pitch. It worked , but to me it looked like we changed from a block back to a press , which changed the game. Got to give credit to Manning for the early shape change, and again for the Subs which helped keeping us on top. Forgot to add;
  2. I'm not colour blind , I was just showing an example that made it clearer for me. Interesting glasses though Will Sykes ? It was his shot that was deflected to Wells . Not sure how the whole assist thing works, if it's one of those random groups of ex Pros it won't make sense.
  3. His starting point is high enough to be like an extra CB , can pick off through balls and is always available for a pass. His kicking can still improve, I'd like him to drill it a little more . Shot stopping and 1v1 he's very good , but what I like is he comes for crosses . It's a bit of thing for me, I used to get annoyed with Frankie then Bentley was worse . But Max will come to the edge of his box to catch and today he came into traffic about 4/5 times to punch , a massive help for the defence and can really add confidence to a team defending.
  4. This isn't the one , but good enough. For me it would be impossible to watch. I had trouble with the Leicester V Chelsea game, this would be a nightmare.
  5. Not sure who posted it, but someone shared a picture with an example of how it can look , I think it may have been Rugby I'll have to look. But that was the point I realised and started questioning things myself.
  6. Definitely said Twine . Couldn't see as the camera man seemed to wander a bit.
  7. Absolutely , but he needs to look for others too. Not sure who it was , but a 5 yard pass to an unmarked player on the edge of the box with the defence all over the place ? Should have been a 2nd. He only passes when there is no option . He is better than he was when NP dropped him , he's learnt . But he needs to improve even more.
  8. Well, I have to give credit where it's due, the Subs worked well . I did wonder why Roberts, but with Pring there and Tanner getting some joy it made sense to get Sykes on. Really caused problems. Mehmeti had an easy pass on for2-0 , he shot again , not surprised he was swapped out for Cornick. But we really need an upgrade there. Good performance all round . From Max who punched well today , to Andy King ,who I would have loved him to score that one chance he had. Williams had a good impact , Knight looks so much better deeper Tanner had another good game. I think the only one below his level was Conway, and I think a lot of that is down to how Manning has played him. Though TBF we got better ball into him , including crosses. I did enjoy how we played the game out, specially though added time. Controlled and smart. Long may it continue.
  9. Plymouth coms opinion was , it may have been hands in the back but was the push enough to send him over. So it was a push in the back, in the area, but it's us so = no Pen
  10. Well. Sat off and had a look for about 20 minutes , using that high block . Then something happened. We started to press , Roberts went from CB to further forward on the left, first seemed to step into MF for a while but then seemed almost a winger at times , LMF . A couple of corners has caused us problems , but not too many scares . Twine was unlucky from the James through ball , couple of almosts , but we looked much better for the last 20 minutes . Played some nice stuff at times, but a couple of occasions we just held the ball to long and we need to pass the ball quicker . Some of the switch passing has been great . One moan is Stroud pulling us up for some very soft "fouls" , but he has let the game flow quite well. Just need not to switch off at the start of the 2nd half now. Get some of those passes into TC , been close a couple of times . So far so OK.
  11. Stroud has been ok when we've had him this season, seems like he's reverted to type and is giving every little thing s a foul against us today.
  12. I don't think the table is the big thing. We need performances , consistency and an obvious improvement in the coming games. Looks like Manning has until the summer, but I do think the Jury is out on whether he starts next season. Wins and some good form will cement his position and take some pressure away.
  13. Damn , that's ruined it. Now I'll have to think up another outfit for our next beer outing
  14. Bit of controversy coming out of Belgium concerning match fixing of the game between Genk and Westerlo . The 1-1 draw was handy as both sides needed just a draw for their own reasons. Genk needed a point to qualify for the next round of games, while Westerlo were in need of a point to make sure they were clear of relegation . Now some of the older viewers on here may remember our game with Coventry , well it was that with bells on. While a late equaliser signalled the end of any attacking intent from either side , still echos of our 2-2 , they went further. There seemed to be two opposition players just passing to each other. I would say while we played out with no intention of harming each other, that passing between opposition players makes it feel much worse. Story below. Belgian football has been hit with a controversial 'fix' scandal as Genk and Westerlo played out a 1-1 draw. Controversy has hit Belgian football with a reported 'fixed' game on the final day of the league season in a match between Genk and Westerlo. The scandal resulted in players being banned and one member of staff even losing his job. Both sides went into the Belgian Pro League encounter in need of a point. This would see Westerlo avoid relegation and remain in the division, while Genk needed a draw to secure a place in the Championship round. The home side took the lead in the match through a Ravil Tagir goal in the 80th minute before being pegged back only six minutes later. Bryan Heynen's strike in the 86th minute seemingly put an end to the game as both sides appeared to stop playing. Several bizarre moments in the closing exchanges didn't seem to add up as players shook hands before the game was even over when they should have been trying to find a winning goal in theory. The Belgian FA have stepped in and issued fines to all 21 players who were on the pitch at the time, with Genk having been reduced to 10 men earlier in the match. The captains of both sides have also been handed suspensions. Westerlo have taken drastic action in the aftermath of the game as they announced the sacking of their manager, Rik De Mil. The club statement read: Despite considering long-term collaboration, we found it necessary to make this decision. The club regrets having to take this measure but cannot accept that its values and norms would be questioned. We thank Rik for his performance and dedication, and wish him every success in the future. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office shared some harsh words as it was claimed (Per Sporza): "The last five minutes of Westerlo-Genk were a mockery of fair play. This is not only against the rules of the game, it is also manifestly unfair compared to other teams that were still in the running for a Champions' Play-off ticket. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office classifies this as blatant cheating." Footage has emerged online of Genk's Joris Kayembe and Nicolas Madsen of Westerlo passing the ball back and forth. According to the Mirror, the duo have been handed larger fines and two-match bans. Genk's manager, Wouter Vrancken, could be seen laughing on the touchline during the game and has since stated he doesn't feel he or his side had done anything wrong. Vrancken said, per the Daily Mail: "The boys played for the Champions' play-offs. At that moment, we were on the field with 9.5 players. (Christopher) Baah got red and (Bryan) Heynen could barely walk. Then you didn't have to take any risks." It is yet to be seen if further fines will be handed out or more suspensions will be given to players or staff, but Genk and Westerlo could both have to pay up to £8500 in the wake of the baffling encounter.
  15. According to Transfermarkt and the BBC he played against Maidenhead and been involved in all their games. TBH I wouldn't be too upset on form , what concerns me more is the number of bookings he's picked up. Saw the Ebbsfleet game and he played pretty well . In 43 games he's scored 18 and 3 assists , maybe 3 sounds low but 18 from MF is good.
  16. Kieran makes it easy for this thread . Not massively surprising , but for fans massively disappointing for the Club to be ran this way.
  17. 124 years and we're still mentioning Southampton
  18. I don't think any of us are that old
  19. Just seen this on Twitter , AKA X .
  20. He said he has the attributes of a modern day FB , he wants to be a good footballer. He said he thinks he can play CB, but want to be seen as an all round footballer. You can hear it here.... https://www.bcfc.co.uk/video/haydon-roberts-qpr-press-conference-february-2024/
  21. Next year ? Is that next season you mean ?
