I’d make getting James to sign a new deal an absolute priority. But I can’t see it happening. Will be a monumental loss. As big as losing Scott/Semenyo imo.

Constant pain and stiffness in joints, can’t get in any run or flow of proper training. Nowhere near fit enough to be considered to even be in a u21 squad. But of course we won’t hear that from Tinnion. Pure speculation on my path, but it seems pretty well known that we passed on signing him in the summer, probably to do with this same problem. Scrap the manager and medical team who didn’t want to risk it, someone (Tinnion) wants to sign him so makes the call. Something like he has would be pretty clearly visible in the muscle and tendon scans done by a/the club doctor. Certainly looks like an egg on face move so far. But they will do what seems to be the Bristol City way atm: double down on covering it up with an explanation that makes no sense and everyone can see through.

A striker to replace outgoing Conway, probably another one on top that’ll be the ‘physical 9’ from abroad. Bird is James’ replacement, another CM probably needed on top as King is off & Murphy probably won’t be fit for the start of the season and no one has any idea how good he actually is yet. Need another backup to replace Bajic. An AM that isn’t Twine as I would be amazed if he comes back. Other than that, I really can’t see too much happening unless we sell more of the Crown Jewels again. I genuinely believe January was the bulk of the bigger summer business.

I think it’s the final point. “Really isn’t what they thought he was” is the verdict I have heard about him. A totally pointless signing, even if it is a loan, and a waste of everyone’s time really. Feel sorry for the lad.

I think anyone expecting wholesale changes to the squad over the summer are going to be pretty disappointed

Yeboah, Meerholz, Campbell-Slowey, Nelson should all be involved in first team pre season as standard imo. Been the standouts from the 18s & 21s this year.

Gave a great account of themselves. Werd always going to run out of steam at the end given the gulf in intensity both will be used to. Really hope to see some of them given a shot soon, though Yeboah was excellent again. A certain level of irony in 3 muscle injuries hugely damaging our chances….!

Superb. (This one probably takes it)

Think it’s pretty clear he’s nowhere near the level they were expecting him to be. Said in another thread, would be surprised to see him get another minute for us. All in all a very odd one, especially considering the ‘visa issues’ fibbing from the club. Feel a bit sorry for him tbh.

Absolutely have to aim to win & play well every game we’re in, no matter what stage of the season. Still very much after seeing consistency & bettering last season, so I don’t think we can rest on our laurels at all. If we can do whilst still blooding Knight-Lebel and maybe Meerholz and some others, great, But we’ve seen nothing to suggest that’s gonna happen so far. I’d wager we’ll probably not see another minute out of Medube too. Would normally be pretty pissed off with that, but things have been that bad that I think he really cant afford to twist too much & he’s not an idiot, so I think he’s well aware of that as well. With the run of fixtures we have, we really couldn’t have asked for a better end of the season in terms of trying to really show what we’re about and build some excitement into next season.
