  1. Whilst I agree with the praise Tanner is getting for his overall performance, I do think he could've prevented their goal. It looked to me like he was poised to intercept the cross but for some reason pulls out. Perhaps he had a poor call from his teammates or a dodgy unsportsmanlike call to leave it from the Boro player who took the shot.
  2. I'd imagine Semenyo in the hole. He's much better at picking the ball up in space turning at running at defences. Also, can pick a pass if Conway and Wells make the right runs ahead. Also, an option to give Semenyo more chance of getting a shot off from outside the box - hopefully he'll drive the ball low from distance though. He's been trying too hard for the spectacular top corner goals of late.
  3. I Massengo was one of the players he was most disappointed with and agree that the sub was a statement to Massengo. I know Pearson made reference to the team making too many passes back to the keeper but I think he was remembering one particular back pass from Massengo - I think it was from our own corner in the first half. Massengo received the cleared corner on the edge of the box, whilst he was right not to shoot or loft it back in to the box himself, he had to recycle it out wide for another phase of that attack; instead he inexplicably decided to pass it all the way back to take the pressure off.
  4. But didn't they replace Adkins with Pochettino. I think Adkins was quickly forgotten. If Pochettino was English, he'd be a great Southgate replacement. Southgate will stay because he says the right things for the FA. England need more but all other possible English managers are probably too young for the job.
  5. Whilst I agree with your comments in general about not using his physical attributes enough, I do wonder if that particular incident was a foul. I think the image below from the Bristol Post is the same incident from a better angle, which shows a tug of the shirt and would explain why he fell down so easily. Unfortunately, a clever foul as no official would be able to see the shirt pull. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-verdict-odowda-record-6610485.amp
  6. I really don't think Pring can be blamed for this. The other 8 outfield players should have been well positioned to deal with any counter. I don't really want to blame individuals but could Williams have got closer to the crosser. Cundy could have filled the left back spot better too. And as others have mentioned, Vyner should have been tighter, although it was a great finish so I don't think he should take the blame either. I'll take the overall positive performance over the disappointing ending in this occasion.
  7. But that doesn't make sense. If those LJ bad runs put us in relegation trouble he would surely have been relegated. It sounds like you're saying Pearson should be allowed the same bad runs no matter where we are in the league. It would be nice if we could actually have a win let alone a run of wins under the current regime.

You don't want to knock the kid, but you did anyway. Incredibly harsh. He hardly received the ball and the times he did he was tackled by his teammates (Martin in a counter attacking situation and Wells in the box). I wouldn't say he played any better or worse than anyone else. The one time he was in a position to take someone on, he was outmuscled, but arguably it was a foul. I also thought he was committed and helped out in defence. I really thought this would be a thread about how great it is to see another academy product make his debut. I really hope he doesn't read your post.
