I think I remember “ If Eric Bristow’s mothers watching this while making the chips, there’ll be chip fat w-all ooover the formica” Did know someone (friends dad) at Cambridge with him. Said he just went to the pub and played darts all the time

Does this launch Ant and Dec?

Plymouth Argyle away match thread

Spot on -
You can’t be unhappy with his innovation though. The centre isle is one of Pep’s unsung legacies and notwithstanding a complicated battery system, I am happy with my new power tools, clothes dryer and juicer

Some chat about us putting ourselves in the playoff chase on the TV commentary after the Soton game. For those that like this kind of thing the numbers are pleasingly round Coventry in 6th. 4pts ahead and +11 goal difference - have exactly 1.5 pts/game. For us to gain 5 pts on them (and obvs the rest of the field) within 14 games requires exactly 2.0 pts/game. 2.0 pts/game is 28 pts giving a total of 72pts. Average of 7th place in championship finish is 71.6pts. That would be the mathematical minimum to scape into 6th. If we arrived in the playoffs in that form it would be the same as the season form of whichever of Leeds, Soton and Ipswich misses out on 2nd. So pleasingly round numbers 28 points is extremely unlikely but it shows we were not that far away from the bottom rung

I liked his interview tbh. I was just looking at his back story- abusive father, who was in and out of jail. Cleaning toilets, Set up a foundation in Brighton etc etc. admittedly I went to hot yoga tonight so I might be in the wrong mindset but I concluded he is a decent man.

I agree. It’s a perfect, risk free, potential building block for next seasons assault on promotion.

I really think everything is being geared to next season. Just can’t admit that to season ticket holders etc.

Delighted to see this thread and the comments. I have listened to him guest on Pods as he was making his transition from player to pundit - mainly those now owned by The Athletic/ nothing niche - honest, engaging and knew his stuff / did his research. I remember him when we played Palace at their ground. I think we were riding high and they outplayed us and I thought he was the pick or massive threat. so I respect his experience and research over some lazy place-men in Lowe league commentary

Birmingham City away match thread

Is it his lack of left foot that means he can’t come inside as an option or to create an angle. So can only go down the line, which is too high risk if we are not playing with pace so always takes the safe pass backwards. It just takes us back to square one every time -

It’s a winning formula -
I posted something similar after QPR away a few years ago. Coked up idiots jumping around shouting and singing openly racist abuse at QPR players. I’ve done lots of away days including places like Crawley and Mk dons as well as the great Fulham and Charlton (back in the day) fixtures. This lot did shock me. It wasn’t my normal and should not be accepted

Southampton away match thread

Thanks - i enjoyed that. I think that’s the season I went to the most games. Marvin Elliot epitomised what was quite an unsung bunch. -
Great post. Congratulations on winning

This thread has depressed me a bit.

That is impressive

Fair play to you. I would have liked to have had a go at this as I love the social history of the clubs. Particularly where they are old factory clubs in the north and next to each other. but couldnt do it. Ive done some games in Brazil, Italy etc when travelling but that’s a different gig and a different thread. many City away games still to do

That makes more sense than there being a plan in place and announcement due
