  1. Just to add to the rest of the sentiment, I thought all 3 guests were superb and really encapsulated the feeling of the fans at the moment.
  2. To be fair I would disagree slightly and say that I can see why people think we could and should do more for St George's Day. In the home nations it's only England and Wales that don't get a bank holiday for their national days (I think), and it would be nice to be able to do something for it.
  3. Just to clarify - This guy has posted more times in this thread than I have .
  4. Other countries have had their flags tweaked slightly for promo purposes, and they didn't care. Literally on the last few pages examples have been posted where Scotland, Brazil, etc have done the same thing without shitting the bed. We've done it countless times to the Union jack, whether it's Team GB or UKIP or whatever. There is literally no reason to be even remotely bothered by this. Just shows perfectly how conditioned some of you lot are to be 'offended' on command.
  5. More examples of other countries managing to tweak their flag ever so slightly without them all collectively shitting themselves.
  6. You can still love the country and your family/friends in it, while also realising that operationally it's a pile of shit and lightyears behind other comparable countries. To be fair though, this has nothing to do with the fact that we're tweaked a flag to fit in more with the design of the kit. Crazy, crazy reaction.
  7. Probably worth noting that when we actually won something our national identity was different again. Honestly this is all just ****ing crazy to me. It's not an erosion of identity. It's not being woke. It's a tiny little flag on a kit, it's absolutely bonkers. Anyone complaining about this has no right to ever call someone else a snowflake ever again. Put your energy into something that matters. I'd have thought the opposite to be fair, though purely on a hunch. I have no proof either way.
  8. The fallout from this has been incredible. How are these examples in any way similar? Your examples are complete rebrands, at complete odds with everything the club stands for and a polar opposite to what we currently have. How on earth does that apply to a small, no, tiny flag on the England shirt? It can't be more than a few inches (), As others have said the cross has been 'tampered with' on shirts for years. 2012, 2011, another from 2011, No one gave a shit then. Obviously if you don't like it then you don't like it, that's fair I'm not trying to say otherwise. But when Twitter is in complete meltdown over it and you have a petition out to change a tiny piece of the kit, you can probably start to make a guess that it's not only down to the fact that they don't like the design of it. For what it's worth I'd prefer the St George's Cross too but I can't say it's bothered me in the slightest. Not necessarily aimed at you guys, but from some of the more angry people online, it once again stinks of the usual crap of people calling everyone else snowflakes while having a complete meltdown over the colour of a tiny part of the shirt. A product of conditioning, nothing more. (My response is more to the fact that a bloody petition exists over this than to your actual comments by the way guys).
  9. Thanks, I hadn't realised that. Ultimately it does the job, just think the template could use a bit of tweaking. But at least it's not the Bristol Post!
  10. Could be wrong of course and we'd never know, but from what I've seen of Murphy in interviews and with his outlook on Ireland and the UK, it wouldn't surprise me if he'd turn the role down if offered anyway. Great bloke and a great actor, but Murphy and the ultimate British character? Not a fit that I could ever imagine happening.
  11. It's less of a content issue here though really I guess. In many cases app and website will pull from the same content database - but the issue here is the presentation of the content. The site seems to be running WordPress which is widely used and decent for particular sites, but ultimately the template is pretty shite with a not so user friendly UI. I'm fairly certain clubs across the FL have always used the same provider / operator, presumably for contractual reasons.
  12. This is a really good point, and I can certainly imagine our owner being shall we say.... sensitive to that prickliness. But ultimately being a leader or a manager in any situation means sometimes working with people who don't operate in the same way as you. Alex Ferguson treated Cantona spring to mind instantly. I always imagined it was more of a clash of personalities that caused NP's downfall. In fact it was likely inevitable given the lack of control our owners are happy to relinquish, the style of manager that we know the owners prefer to operate with, and the reputation that (to be fair) preceded Nige. But I guess the fans as a whole will never know the full story.
  13. Have been to the one in Bath, it was great. Definitely worth a visit.
  14. I'm not sure why this needs to be the case. This might show a big age difference between users here, but even as far back as the supposed heyday of the 2000's I think there have been headliners who potentially weren't known by 70% of the population. Would 70% of the population have known Moby? Travis? Basement Jaxx? In 2009 would all the kids know who Neil Young is (I certainly hadn't heard of him at that age even though he's a legend!). Arcade Fire in 2014? Big names, but 70%+ of the population? I think the lineups these days are more a symptom of the music industry than a sign of a 'poor' lineup. Access to music is so much easier and wider, and is less siloed to a finite number of tv and radio stations, so musical interests are far more fragmented and niche. I think for that reason, people who are less interested in music and only see the 'big' acts shout every year about how lineup's are going downhill, despite the fact that attendance numbers suggest the complete opposite. Gone are the days where most had heard of almost the entire lineup, there is so much more variety now. Guitar music is in a bit of a rut, but there is so much great stuff in the other genres being pushed now.
  15. This. By all means you have to experience it, but bringing a first timer along and taking them to all of the other stages is the best part. Pyramid is a nightmare getting to and from.
  16. Peggy Gou should be great. Other highlights for me are Idles, Fontaines, The National, Black Pumas, Nia Archives, Justice, Kneecap, Alvays, Bonobo, Honey Dijon. There's enough there for sure - a few expected to be added too like James, Happy Mondays and Busted .
  17. Off the Pyramid that lineup looks pretty great to me.
  18. You definitely have a point in that some of the language used has been beyond extreme. The guy has genuinely done a ton of good for City in various different positions at the club, and that shouldn't be forgotten. Even if he hadn't, it's been pretty damn brutal. Can't agree any further than that though. If what has been suggested by those ITK is correct, then the criticism is completely justified. It should probably be delivered with a little less hate though.
  19. Not happy. Believe it or not that are more alternate models aside from Watford.
  20. Either we know the same person or this is weirdly common on Facebook. Not sure why anyone would ever do that.
  21. I've been trying to avoid this thread a little while to avoid the hysteria, but nothing has really calmed down. Again like before, it's not really anger on my side, more apathy. Apathy knowing that we will likely tread water in the middle of the Championship for another 10 years, barring the odd flirt with relegation, unless something changes. And let's face it, that position for a club of our size isn't that bad, but it is frustrating when it's seemingly some shoddy mismanagement holding us back. Based on what others have said, it seems we have a very... distinct shall we say, corporate and management setup. I've said it before and I'll say it again, shell out some money on getting 3 experts into the correct roles, and actually listen to them and actually empower them, and I guarantee the owners will get a much better return on their investment. A manager who knows what he's doing (at one point we had one of those!), a proper COO or CEO who can run the club appropriately (we also had one of those!), and then another head of the academy and/or player recruitment - not just jobs for mates or pretending roles no longer exist. And to be completely fair and transparent here, I think Tins has proven that he would be a solid shout for that third academy/recruitment job. But only that third job. I didn't listen admittedly but I've got the vibe from this thread. Just pure apathy now, waiting until something changes, whatever that may be.
  22. That's next on the list for us, so glad to hear you had a good one. There are some decent places down that road - the Thali has some great midweek deals and the Garden of Easton is a lovely place to be in.
