  1. Neil Harris promoted Millwall to the Championship as their manager in 2017 ... oops
  2. Yeh but you got in a bit too quick too ... Pep won promotion in 2008 as manager of the Barcelona B team ...
  3. Come, come Mr T - that Marjorie must have been a tad naive - any self-respecting student of Bristol football would know that your lot played away at Liverpool twice in 1957 - and you lost both, 4-1 and 2-0, can’t believe you fibbed to her - how do you sleep at night?! ???
  4. Watford FC - from Division 4 in 1978 to finishing 2nd in the Premier League (Top Division) in 1983 ... Graham Taylor and Elton John ... bottom to top in just five seasons ... amazing achievement in my opinion ... ??
  5. You sure would - apologies, I didn’t mean to ‘shoot the messenger’ - media standards couldn’t really sink any lower!
  6. Ukraine and Poland? Are you sure about that?! You posted a squad with players’ clubs out of date and now you announce the squad for games against Ukraine and Poland ... you’ve had a ‘Weston super’ there chief ...
  7. Ah, Maryhill! I have spent spent sooo many splendid Saturday afternoons in that delightful part of Glasgow - watching the world famous ‘Harry Wraggs’ - the ‘Maryhill Magyars’ - the ‘Red & Yellow Army’ - the ‘Great Glasgow Alternative’ - standing in the renowned ‘Jackie Husband Stand’ belting out the anthems - “I’ve followed the Thistle for Many a Day...” - “Hello, Hello, How do you do? We hate the boys in royal blue, we hate the boys in emerald green ...” - “We are coming, we are coming, we are coming down your road, when the hear the noise of the Partick Thistle boys, we are coming down your road” (that one was sung at Firhill decades before the tartan army and Liverpool fans decided to plagiarise it as their own) ... ah, Saturdays in Maryhill, just wonderful ... the chaps, the pubs (we always met at a cracking boozer - ‘The Abbotsford Inn’ in Bearsden - before snaking our way to Maryhill), the rubbish weather, the banter, the passion of the fans (way above anything I’ve seen before or since) - I still get up there whenever I can - it’s just brilliant ... ?
  8. Hi all, well, obviously I’ve got to highlight the first line of the (apparent) Dover Athletic statement: “Following the news today of Ade Shokunbi we had agreed in principal” ... PRINCIPAL?! Principal? - good grief, how standards have dropped (it’s “principle”) ? Lots of gen x / millennials are running digital outputs for multiple organisations and media outlets and the results are disastrous - just look at the ‘running threads’ at the bottom of the screen on channels such as Sky News, GB News, Talk TV etc - they are full of spelling and grammatical errors that can be appropriately deemed pathetic in the modern world of spell checker etc. My dear old Dad was a much respected journalist back in the days when they were old school and actually left their desks to get out in the world to find stories on which to report. He was on first name terms with the likes of Morecambe & Wise, Norman Wisdom etc (look it up kids!) yet he left the profession in disgust in the 1980s saying “standards have dropped so far, I no longer want to be part of this” - he was ahead of his time as everything has seemed to plummet since - eg “we had agreed in principal” - Principal? Principle? Those who ridicule and think this is all trivial are merely contributing to the massive downturn in basic standards. It ain’t important to many, but it is to me ... cheers ?
  9. Just a small point I guess, but are you aware Mason Greenwood had all charges against him dropped by the CPS? Yet you chose to associate him with certain activities to make a case as to why Rovers may employ him? It’s always dangerous to call out people online when you have no evidence of their alleged misdemeanours, especially when they subsequently have all charges against them dropped. A work colleague of mine got into serious bother when he re-tweeted a false allegation against an MP - the politician concerned instructed his legal team to go after everyone who had defamed him online - on every social media platform ... it’s the way of the world just now ... it’s a minefield out there ...
  10. Cool, ok, thanks - so you’ve confirmed Pogba was never on £300k a week at Old Trafford, just like I said ... ??
  11. Pogba was never on £300k a week at United and when he went back to Juve he was apparently on £170k a week, surely he wouldn't have entertained a £130k per week reduction to move to Juve? Perhaps your figures seem questionable - what was your source?
  12. Notts Forest ... shiver! You obviously don’t know any Nottm County fans ... ???
  13. Fair points, but Ndombele hasn’t left has he? I thought he was just out on loan?
  14. You think Poch ‘worked for Spurs’ Tom? Many Spurs fans think they bottled the premier league title under Poch when they were well in it but allowed Leicester City to take the trophy. And the last Spurs manager to win a trophy? Wasn’t it Juande Ramos? So you could argue it ‘worked for Spurs’ under Ramos but not so much under Poch? Just an opinion, but the lack of recent success for a club the size of Spurs opens up a very interesting debate ...
  15. Yep, it is me - I followed The Jags all over in the 80s and 90s - including a memorable (???) 0-0 at Parkhead when the crowd was a paltry 26k - your club hasn’t always been ‘big’ ? - I still get up to Firhill when I can, The Jackie Husband Stand still makes an impressive racket - I was gutted for the lads in the play off defeat - that was Thistle’s 6th game in the play offs - they’d already thrashed Queen’s Park and Ayr Utd (both over two legs) and then they just came up short vs Ross County - I felt so sorry for the chap who missed the decisive pen for The Jags - he’s been with the club for 13 years and is Thistle to the core - heartbreaking for him ... ?
  16. You can tick off Wimbledon too - they were in the premier league for eight seasons from 1992 to 2000 - your graphic seems a bit flawed ...
  17. Didn’t Reynolds grow up in Canada, in Vancouver?
  18. Yet despite being asked repeatedly you can’t say what Thunberg has actually achieved - no worries - I’m out of here ...
  19. On this thread you’ve called me ‘stupid’ and a ‘simpleton’ just because I disagree with your views - so you can’t have a grown up debate without resorting to abuse?! When I joined this forum over 18 years ago it was a place where you could have vigorous debate around a range of issues without being abused - you’ve shown that no longer exists as far as you are concerned - and I’ve asked you repeatedly on this thread what you mean by your post that said ‘our grandkids are going to roast’ - yet you’ve decided to refrain from answering - probably because you cannot justify that statement - anyhow, I’ve had enough, I’m going away from this now ...
  20. If only you knew ... and you think Greta is a ‘hero’ - good grief ... and I am not a ‘simpleton’ - pedantic, yes! But not a simpleton - pathetic that you’d dismiss a fellow poster like that ...
  21. I am not stupid Tony x3 - you said our ‘grandkids are going to roast’ - can you justify that statement?
  22. What I have achieved is none of your business - but what has Greta achieved?
  23. “Your grandkids are going to roast” - surely you can see that is overreacting?! The planet has survived countless climate cycles ... yet we are still here ... I thought most intelligent people have realised that the scaremongering recent media messaging is just tripe ...
  24. Why post stuff like this when you don’t know anything about the person you are attacking and you don’t know anything about what they have achieved? Incidentally, what has Greta “achieved” ?
