  1. It’s probably just me, but I don’t like the thought of a cashless society - I still like to stroll to the pub with the notes in my pocket - knowing exactly how much I will spend ... not sure why anyone who thinks this is wrong is an “idiot” - as I said, it’s probably just me ... furthermore though, a few years ago me and some friends had a few drinks and a meal in a Bristol bar and we paid by credit card - a few days later £1,400 was spent on my card by someone in Italy and the exact same amount was spent on a fellow diner’s card, also in Italy, she had bought some drinks that night for us in the same bar using her credit card. So, who were the ‘idiots’ that night, the ones paying by cash or the ones using a card?!
  2. I wish you huge strength and lots of luck “In the Net” ...
  3. I do remember at the time thinking ‘Bristol City playing home games there - on a large patch of land between Brislington, Knowle West, Hengrove, Hartcliffe, Withywood and Whitchurch - what could possibly go wrong for away supporters?!’
  4. What a firm of solicitors they were ... ??
  5. ... a veritable list, to which one should add the alleged racist abuse given towards an opposition goalkeeper by the ‘family club’ ... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/08/bristol-rovers-action-fans-racially-abuse-jason-brown ...
  6. Wow! Apologies! When posting my lighthearted response, I obviously didn’t factor in the likely reaction from the humourless ones who truly believed I thought @harrysshould have referred to a past division as ‘the first divisionship’ - when I was making the point that the ‘premiership’ in England doesn’t exist... didn’t think anyone would take it so seriously ... so, again, apologies that I made you take to the keyboard to tell me ‘it would be silly’ ...
  7. Yep - me too - magical days! But I didn’t call it the ‘first divisionship’ ... ?????
  8. Which are the other Gloucestershire sides? Forest Green Rovers ... and?
  9. You’d care if our club ever made it there ...
  10. Thank you! But isn’t the Premier League the top ‘division’ in England rather than a ‘football league’ ?? - interesting, yet pretty useless debate!
  11. It’s also the top division in Scotland - ridiculous how a simple thing like knowing the top division in England is called the “premier league” evades so many ...
  12. Super post Tony x3 - I’ve always maintained on here that he was the best ‘defender’ at our club and, like you, I called him a ‘warrior’ - but was inevitably shouted down by the ‘imagine my surprise when Baker got injured’ brigade - although they were obviously the ones who didn’t go to any games. He was always the guy who got stuck in and gave everything he had, in every single game for Bristol City - it will be tragic, yet understandable, if the poor guy has to call it a day. A fantastic defender and a real warrior....
  13. Bris - tol - ci - tee - that has four syllables - so you’d agree it ‘scans nicely’ ?! ??
  14. Apologies! I only read the one post and thought it very strange you had the hump with Lewes FC! Wahey ... ??
  15. QPR at home, Derby away, Middlesbrough at home - all those very fine performances (and results) had Afobe, Palmer and Weimann up front ... then came the bad injury for Afobe ...
  16. Retaliate against Lewes FC with banners and chants?! Really?! They are just having a laugh - good on them! They’d give anything to be in our position in the football pyramid - so let them mock and have fun, it’s harmless!
  17. Fantastic post LR - at that point we had Afobe up front with Palmer and Weimann behind him - we were on fire, we were ripping teams to shreds ... such a shame we didn’t get to see how that panned out - I really rated Palmer, he’s obviously a very skilful footballer, such a shame it didn’t work out for him here - someone will build a team around him and benefit hugely ...
  18. Yeh, but aren’t they officially “coming for us” ?! Blimey, they seem to be taking their time ...
  19. That’s more Wycombe Wanderers than gas to be fair - another reason for the blue few to get all gnarly when they realise their kit ain’t unique or special or recognised - even Everton wore quarters way, way, way before the deluded gas ...
  20. “Six o’clock Fawlty ...”
  21. ‘...a week later’ - is the the time difference relevant?! Perhaps all of those registered on this forum don’t spend every day on this place - many obviously have stuff to do in the real world rather than read and reply to posts on OTIB on a daily basis - from your comment, you obviously aren’t one of them ...
  22. Sunderland vs Lincoln ... yep, Sunderland vs Lincoln - given the histories of both clubs and modern expectations and crowd figures, I’m sure you could entertain the fact that LJ overseeing a play off defeat as boss of the mighty Mackems versus the plucky Imps could well be seen as a ‘thrashing’ - a thrashing doesn’t always need to be a 0-5, for example, it could just be a ridiculous and unlikely result against a club you are expected to beat handsomely - hence the Mackems being humbled by the Imps ...
  23. Well, despite your hilarious emoji - and considering the “previous 5 points” to which you refer, I would still say that LJ getting thrashed by Lincoln City in the play offs, when he was Sunderland manager, was not an achievement of which to be proud - so I can safely disagree with at least another one of the “previous 5 points” to which you refer ... ?
