  1. Nice bit of symmetry with a 3-2 win tonight!
  2. Very apt, they’ve grated on me for years!
  3. The last time Ashton Gate hosted a Bristol derby in the league!
  4. Must have one hell of an agent!
  5. Dale Benkenstein gone, good riddance!
  6. Basically they’ve looked at what Hampshire did with the Rose Bowl, they built that with expectation of hosting test matches. It was years before they got a test match and it caused them serious financial problems.
  7. It would be ideal, especially if the proposed junction 18A of the M4 is built in Pucklechurch. That said, opposition to that in Pucklechurch is pretty fierce.
  8. Was there anything on Points West? Ali Durden was outside with a cameraman when I went in, but had disappeared when I left.
  9. I think the vast majority of members will back the move, to stay at Neville Road would be akin to seeing the club slowly bleed to death, and that cannot be allowed to happen. This move would make Gloucestershire feel like the major city club it should be.
  10. Just got in from the meeting, first thing to say is that nothing has been decided yet, and the club is still only exploring this as an option. They’ve been talking to South Gloucestershire Council for around two years now, and they’re very supportive. No site has been chosen, but it will be on the northern fringe of Bristol, between Almondsbury and Emerson’s Green. The ECB are very supportive, and Richard Gould was there for a meeting this morning. They’ll be looking for a site of around 20-25 acres, and will need plenty of facilities for the club to tap into new income streams. The current site is 8 acres, so it’s restricting what they can do there. The suggested £10-40m value of Neville Road is only a ball park figure, the exact value is not known, but if £15m was offered, the project wouldn’t be viable. They reckon there are grants from the ECB and other organisations available. With regards to capacity, they said they’d be looking for an initial capacity 12-14,000 permanent seats, with the addition of temporary seating and the option to develop further when demand/revenue streams made that viable. They won’t be going for Test Match status as they feel there’s already plenty of those around, and going after that would lead to building a White Elephant! A move closer to the ring road and M5 would make cricket more accessible to those from the north of the county. They also said that it would help them secure a franchise for The Hundred. I don’t know others opinions on this form of the game, I’ve never been keen, but I’ve been somewhat put off by the nearest franchise being in Cardiff, as a true Bristolian I can never support anything Welsh! That’s about the gist of it.
  11. There’s a meeting at the County Ground tomorrow afternoon , luckily I’m on a week off work so will be able to attend. I’ll post an update on here tomorrow afternoon of what’s going on.
  12. I used to deliver to the shop on North Street, and was always given a pie of my choice to take with me! Suffice to say it was always a classic Clark’s Pie I went for! Always full of the delicious filling, and piping hot, it’s a peerless pie for me!
  13. I’m a Gloucestershire member, I also live not too far away from Lyde Green. I love a Friday night blast game, a few beers and a meal on Gloucester Road and then into watch the game with my mates has become a tradition over the years. However, the club is stagnating badly, we’re light years behind Somerset. The last redevelopment of the ground was a massive downgrade on what they originally wanted to build. Getting away from Bristol and the never ending supply of NIMBY’s would definitely be a good thing, building anything within the juristiction of BCC seems to be an impossible task. There’s a chance to build a really top class ground here, maybe something similar to the Rose Bowl in Southampton? If so, it would be great for the whole region, and mean us getting more top England games, not like this years offering v Ireland. I’ll reserve full judgement until more details are available, but I feel there’s a chance to be really bold and ambitious here.
  14. Another of the great characters of the game sadly gone. RIP.
  15. I’ve always hated Swindon, I got fed up with the local news being obsessed with them back in the 90’s, there was a kid at school who I hated who supported them randomly and was an utter *****! They think because they won the League Cup back in 1969 that they’re a big club! I didn’t go to that game back in 2014, but people I know who did told me about their antics on and off the pitch, and it made the return at AG and them bottling the play offs ever so satisfying. Just think, they’re so low now they’re shipping seven goals at home to non league teams in the FA Cup these days!
  16. I met him at a dinner for Gerry Gow at the Marriott Royal back in 2011, had a chat, lovely guy. My mate was also sat near him at Gerry’s funeral, said he sobbed his heart out.
  17. I should add to this it’s SL I was blocked by, not JL.
  18. I noticed I was blocked by him well over a year ago, I can honestly say at that point I hadn’t said anything negative about him. He seems to be behaving like a spoilt kid, pretty pathetic really.
  19. Not very excited by this at all, I hope I’m wrong, but feel this is a strange time to make such a huge change. If they’d waited until the summer I could of understood it, but feel this is going to be a disaster doing it mid season.
  20. I always found RB having Brookman at the sags, and Adam Baker for us a while back as summarisers extremely strange. Neither of them former players, and with no more knowledge of Football than the average fan. The good thing for us now is that we’ve got Gary Owers and Chris Honor summarising are games.
  21. Yep, he’s talking utter bollocks, the players we’ve got are suited to counter attacking football. Last season, particularly after Christmas when Alex Scott really came into his own we were much better in possession, but without him we don’t really have much creativity in midfield. He talked about the pace in the team, that’s not much good when trying to break a team down when you’re chasing the game, that’s where you need someone who can play that killer pass, and we don’t have anyone capable of that at the moment. There should have been a creative midfielder lined up to come in, it was blatantly obvious AS was going to be off, and as Tins is in charge of recruitment, then he’s culpable.
  22. I’ve lost a huge amount of respect for him after watching that interview.
