  1. I see his role and what he brings. It just doesn’t cause me to get overly fussed by it Perhaps I have a tendency to favour the more advanced lying midfielder, for their creativity and ability to run at defenders. Having said that, as deeper lying midfielders go the best I have seen at AG (in recent memory) in a red shirt is easily Paul Hartley. Such a shame we got him at the end of his career. But he was a prime example of someone who kept things ticking over and was capable of spreading the play and getting us in on goal.
  2. Didn’t mind him. Played a pivotal role in the team of that era. Complemented our style at the time nicely. Think we benefited massively from having him and Freeman though. Elliot deeper, keeping things ticking over. Freeman pushing forward running at defenders or playing that killer pass. Maybe that’s the issue now? We lack not the Elliot-type player (MJ) but the Freeman-type one.
  3. I like MJ, but certainly don’t buy into the hype in this thread. Keeps the ball moving, granted. But I don’t see enough of him playing the incisive or “killer” pass. Favours the safe option far too much for me (though you could argue that’s the tactics we set up with I suppose also).
  4. Sorry Mark but he’s still got an almighty job to do yet to convince me that he’s the right man for the job. I really enjoyed today’s match, I want to see more of that. Yet, why do I feel we are massively going to revert to type against Plymouth?
  5. That was so much more like it (mostly). Result important, but performance was also good and crucially an actually entertaining afternoon of football. We need to see this consistently now.
  6. I can only agree. Honestly **** this board sacking NP and bringing a total novice in.
  7. Just seen LJ in the Mall at Cribbs. Should I be bracing myself for his imminent return? (Whether it’s LM or LJ, it Wouldn’t motivate me to renew my ST).
  8. Downsy has a colour chart of blunders, Tinnion a catalogue, and JL has the whole ******* shop.
  9. The “buy a brick” scheme in the Wedlock stand rebuild (circa ‘05-‘07).
  10. 3 points - good. Important that we didn’t go on an LJ style losing run.
  11. A great point made here. For me, we do not have any subs who I would define as “game changers”. If football’s expansion of substitutions is leading towards a system more like rugby union, where you have “starters” and “finishers” then you have to expect that your “finishers” are both capable of holding a lead or turning over a deficit. We just don’t have anyone who falls in that bracket for me.
  12. It’s a no from me. Numerous reasons really but I think another poster (I can’t recall who) summed it up nicely by saying that at the moment other things in life have become more enjoyable (and therefore feel like more of a priority) than watching city play
  13. Wouldn’t surprise me tbh.
  14. Ed Hadwin has a really strange love-in for Manning. Gary Owers was 100% right to challenge him on it. Hadwin keeps pushing his own personal agenda every time he hosts and is very quick to shut down fans who he doesn’t agree with. Bring back Geoff, so much better than Hadwin, Hoskins or Ray.
  15. It’s because Manning is actually a robot and cannot understand these human feelings.
  16. 4 defeats on the bounce increases pressure, regardless of performance. We are sleep walking towards the drop zone.
  17. I’m not convinced MOL should be number one long term, but I do also have to agree with this comment wholeheartedly.
  18. Am I the only one who thinks his accent is bizarre also? When Manning speaks I get occasional hints of when Steve McLaren did that god awful Dutch accent. Then after that I change the radio, because he is just so very boring to listen to.
  19. Yeah this exactly, sorry but LM doesn’t look like he could fight his way out of a paper bag let alone fight for his job.
  20. I have to agree - think Tom has been an excellent addition to the pod, and in general the pod is much better when Neil is on the pannel as well.
  21. This was the original intention behind this goal kick routine. However, virtually every team in England has sussed this now and so it doesn’t work anymore. Especially if your keeper’s kicking is a tad inconsistent.
  22. Players are certainly not at the required standard, but then you have to ask who is recruiting them? (Presumably Tins) And who is coaching them? (Presumably Manning). And who believed that the players were a top 10 squad? (JL).
