They are ###### hopeless. Overmars, davids, seedorf and frank de boer at least were good five years ago, but what were they at yesterday? Watching Holland struggling to pass the ball to each other reminded me of Ireland against Switzerland. Edgar Davids and Phillip Cocu are the new Matt Holland and Mark Kinsella. Andy Van der Meyde is clearly the new kilbane, Occasionally skinning his man before punting his cross into the stand. They were just as ###### spineless, incapable of protecting their own defence, pressing the scots in midfield, passing the ball to their forwards or supporting them. Surely this is the end of Edgar Davids' international career. Whatever it was that made him good in the mid to late nineties is long gone. He was absolutely hopeless. With a header that forced a good save, a narrow miss after a driving run, and two crosses that actually found their target, Jaap stam was Holland's most dangerous player by a considerable distance. The hopelessness of the situation became all too apparent when club footed oaf Ruud Van Nistelrooy picked up the ball and drove right at the middle of the scottish defence. When he had drawn enough players towards him he slipped a lovely diagonal pass to stylish football sophisticate Patrick Kluivert, at which he stepped on the ball and fell flat on his arse. The only surprise was that it took so long to take off davids and kluivert. Why didn't holland give van der vaart the ball as often as they gave it to Van der meyde? But ###### holland and fair dues to scotland. Some brilliant performances. They defended as well as they had to. They deserved to get away with the three probable penalties, and because of a two minute spell when mc Fadden and Fletcher produced the only moments of skill in the game. Thank christ that Rab Douglas didn't have one of his usual big game performances. They must have a real chance at the Arena.
