Hope we have a smash for half an hour in morning and let Criag and Rudolf get tons. 6-7 overs, lead of 250 get at em I say I note you have just suggested a declaration. I would suggest a continued thrash for another 5 overs or so and then declare - a quick 50 or so runs will be easier now than at the end of the day, if necessary. My post crossed with yours - I was referring to your CRICINFO post. They have now declared, though 587/8 leaving Hants 249 runs to avoid defeat - still 90 overs left. After winning a trophy last season it does feel a bit flat seeing the season end with nothing but I'd say there's been some progress made. Up until the Durham game they did really well in the T20 and really should have made the finals day. They've also kept their Championship season alive a lot longer this time. If there was more than one promotion spot on offer they'd still be in with a shout.

In different news, I find myself at a service station off the M1 just south of Leeds. It's cold up north ain't it?

However if you're at a service station just south of Leeds then I imagine you're probably near Barnsley and hence subject to the freezing waves of bitterness that emanate from Oakwell. Lanterne Rouge
Ah well, win tomorrow and our nemesis awaits at Lord`s, Gareth Batty and all. Could be a re-run of yesterday at Edgbaston tomorrow, loads of City supporting Somerset and I guess Villa fans would support Warwickshire? EmersonsRed
Good luck to Somerset... Keep that trophy in the south-west... Win tomorrow then ruin Gareth Batty's dreams again...

Maybe realised he's won pretty much it all at Yorks or off to take over the Aus job? I shouldn`t be surprised. He seems a bloke who likes a challenge and that can`t be there at Yorkshire any more. The Aussies are in transition right now so the perfect time to take over I reckon.

Lanterne Rouge
Not a good start, need to get a couple of wickets soon or they`ll be out of sight.
Lrrr
Anyone think the coverage for this is a bit s***? Start coverage after they've done the toss now showing and old final between the 2 innings rather than in studio stuff. Was it the same yesterday? Lrrr
That's an awful decision by the umpire imo, highlighted by the stump line on the replay, ball is practically outside of leg stump when its hit Allenby.

MichaelRobartes
Good effort from the tail. Too much sweeping of Patel and a few dodgy lbw calls. Ultimately nobody got the big score we needed.
Lrrr
Shame, cracking effort from Groenewald, the flurry of wickets cost us in the end.

Calculus
Shame, but a very good attempt by the tail. Was hoping for a Yorkshire v Somerset final - birth county v adopted county. That worked out well....
