So the verdict on the pitch was supposed to be delivered on the second day which ended up being at close of play. Middlesex and the ECB didn't get the verdict they wanted so we had to wait until today and now we have to wait until Monday.

This stinks. I'll be amazed if we don't get stitched now. All because of a pitch that should have never even been categorised as below average.

Middlesex now wanting to speak to the ECB over their 2 point deduction for their slow over rate in the game that got cancelled by the crossbow incident. Would be even more bs for that to be retracted in hindsight given Somerset could argue they'd have played differently in every game since.

They will not have to go far for the meeting, as ECB is situated at Lords.

This looks like a carve up.

Middlesex say they are planning to appeal the 2 point deduction, despite the fact ECB followed protocol and there is no scope for an appeal (usually...). How about the idea of you don't fall behind the over rate? Or if you were so aggrieved by the decision why not attempt an appeal immediately instead of after being relegated. Somerset are going to be screwed here. If they try reinstating the points this could get messy legally as I would hope Somerset would take the case to the court of arbitration for sport if they can. Somerset played 4 games after middlesex being docked 2 points, so over a quarter of the CC season in effect. It would be ridiculous to then be allowed to reallocate points after such time, but of course it is Middlesex and the ECB...

Saw a stat that if Middlesex had scored just 7 more runs across 2 games, they'd have got 2 more points - they made 247 against Surrey and 246 against Essex where 250 would have got an extra point.

... and if Somerset hadn't taken off the spinners in the home match against Yorkshire and Yorkshire had got 4 less runs as a result then Somerset would have had 16 points more and Yorkshire 16 points less.

Sounds like Jos had an interesting stag do in Amsterdam... To add to this Strauss supposedly asked Jos to cancel to do given Stokes and Hales recent incident, because of Strauss' warning about it Root and Broad didn't go with the ashes looming.

Now the ECB just have to work out how to give Middlesex their two points back for arrowgate. Still annoyed that the pitch has been classed as below average to be honest.

Phew! Surely there is no chance Middlesex will overturn that.

At least we've only got one match to worry about, unlike last seasons farce when it was out of our control with the gentleman's agreement between Middlesex and Yorkshire!

Perhaps I should reword this. The gentleman's agreement between Middlesex and the ECB?
