Abell gone lbw to Maharaj.

Is getting all out for 199 in the first innings when you were doing so well to recover the most Somerset thing to have happened?

199 is gutting, we've got to hope that Essex struggle to get anything with the bat in the first innings. Having said that, if we match their result this week and beat them on the final day, we should win regardless of the batting points situation.

True. Having said that I just read this:

Are we able to blame the ECB for depriving us of Jack Leach's glasses?

200 ao.

That bonus point could be crucial in the final reckoning- hope the wicket has a certain amount in it, we were 97/2 not long after lunch so that to 188/9 was a bit of a fall!

Mid order collapse followed by a bit of a recovery, but disappointing but, as Sir Geoffrey Boycott once said, "you don't know how good a score is on any pitch until both sides have batted"! Unless, of course, one side outplays the other!

Interesting day at Taunton. Difficult conditions to start with - very overcast and the ball doing a bit with a slow outfield due to yesterday's rain. Yorkshire put Somerset in, so that's a bit of a clue. The dark clouds went, the outfield started to dry and batting became a bit easier. Worth noting that Maharaj, Yorkshire's spinner, bowled one third of their overs and took 5 wickets. The day finished with Somerset operating with spinners at each end. (Bess and Van De Merwe). Mark my words - if Yorkshire are left with 200 to get in the 4th innings then they're in trouble. This match could go either way -  but Somerset need a decent day tomorrow.

With Essex looking to be struggling to win vs Warks this could be a very good week for Somerset.

My money and hopes are still firmly on Somerset for the title (and this from a long-standing Yorkshire  cricket supporter).

Yorks must be thinking however -  Essex lose, beat Somerset and then looking at the last game being between Som/Ess that they could sneak under the radar, no?

Oh, definitely yes. All Yorkshire really care about is the County Championship. Must admit to being surprised the way they started their innings - very quick scoring, look to max their batting points and force a win. All a bit gungh-go though.
