Yes, definitely with the forecast, plus none of these teams bar maybe Worcester are capable of scoring bug runs against this Somerset attack. Having said that we didn't have a stroke of luck today with the weather, that last cloud burst which cost us the game seemed to have blue sky all around the ground but not above it. Plus they could have easily eeked out a few mire overs if they really wanted to.

Warks made no effort today to keep the ground dry. ECB HQ will be happy Are they hosting any tests or T20s this year? Maybe a bit more diligent for those? ralphindevon
In 6 innings against us so far this season the opposition average 129, so we could easily have declared as soon as Jamie hit his ton, it's not as if we could lose, we still had s 2nd innings if needed. It's fine margins and we don't help ourselves sometimes......often
Admin phantom Posted August 18, 2020 Admin Report Share Posted August 18, 2020 Agree with the comments above about the declaration. What always bothers me most about things like this is that if we can see it why can't "the professionals"

Tom Banton and Lewis Gregory will be around England duty so guess it depends how early they are put in this bubble to impact their availability

But any returning player can't just return to another teams dressing room, they would need to be put through the usual checks etc, it was three weeks before a game so no idea what the time scales are after

ralphindevon
How many times has the Somerset tail wagged in recent years? The way we've been bowling that could be a very good total

Dogbert
Right, so 66 overs left in the day with quite possibly no play after today. Should Somerset go with a big gamble and just swing the bat for say 14 overs, declare and then try to bowl out Gloucestershire again in the remaining 50 overs today?
