The points deduction will have to be less than the original 12 points as we've 4 games fewer to play to claw them back

Is the points deduction still carried over from 2019?

Essex must be due one sometime and as for Middlesex that Lords pitch for the final was disgraceful!

At the start of the Bob Willis trophy it was stated Somerset's point deduction would carry over to the 2021 season, but that was on the basis of a full season

Guess its a solid replacement for JamieO  - still think we need a top quality batsmen for the middle order over bowlers.

Not sure what's happened re Philander thou

Would now have to be the overseas player wouldn't he?

Wonder if we'll look to try and recruit someone coming over for the 100, not sure what the crossover is like and which comps he'd miss/how much etc but for the times around it just a shout but Steve Smith? Going to be based in Cardiff so not far away, Punter and Langer would more than likely give very good reviews for us. Still not his biggest fan from sandpaper gate but putting it aside it would fit.

I think the orignal plan was for the Hundred to clash with the 50 over tournament, the aim being that the counties would use it to blood youngsters.

I see there was an online meeting yesterday with supporters, these comments are from the Grockles site

A few things to come out of tonights Q&A
Over 500k donated in memberships last year
Club and ECB have come to agreement over docked points, to be announced shortly.
Fixtures late Dec or early Jan. Held up by international schedule
Same about overseas players depending on international scheduling.
All membership renewed by end of jan will have priority .

New financial period end date of Dec31 now so this period will be 15 months to 31 Dec 2020. Following the previous 12 month period to 30 Sept 2019.

New bowling coach interviews are complete, announcement in the coming weeks, it's hoped they will be in post ready to start when the players return to training in the new year.

Certainly looking like restricted numbers, at best, for the first one or two months of the season. Won't be an issue for county c'ship games! Hopefully by June/July some proper crowds will be allowed in...

I booked over the phone and the lady said that for County matches they get around 1500 - so plenty of room  even with restricted numbers. Obviously very different for one day matches.

James Hildreth has signed a contract extension to the end of 2022

He will be almost 40 by the end of the 2022 season, which will mark 20 years a Somerset player and, in the traditional sense of the word, an icon of this Century!

I still consider it a travesty that he was never awarded an England cap, although, of course, he did 'play' for England in the Ashes at Lords, where he caught his former teammate, Ricky Ponting ?.

If he was 5 years younger or older he'd definitely have had one but was in his peak at England's peak, very much a shame though and definitely in the conversation for best player to never play for England

Of course, it is very easy to say that JH should have been selected, but difficult at that time to say who should have been dropped - unless you are biased towards Somerset players ?.

Incidentally, I am sure that, whatever the official MCC site might say, there are three Somerset players in the current England team.
