The County Cricket Thread

Can't find the story anymore but there was something on a Glamorgan player who was born and raised in England however looks like his career in county cricket could be over due to having to be named as an overseas player because a rule that if you play professionally overseas without being counted as an overseas player then you're not eligible to count as an 'English' player so to say. The lad struggled to make it in England so moved to Australia for a job at an airport, carried on playing and broke into the Queensland team.

Royal London cup final on a Thursday.

What’s the ******** point, a great competition in its different guises over the decades and now reduced to a 2nd eleven competition with a final they’ll be praying nobody watches and will be a poor game or rained off. All so the T20 might look a bit better.

Yep, it's been downgraded to a development competition that'll be getting played at the same time as the Hundred.

No doubt in a few years time we'll get to a point where England are crap at 50-over cricket again because none of them play it and they'll wonder why, without being able to make the obvious connection.

I meant to say The Hundred

??

I may at best tune in to watch 1 game to see how it actually functionally works but otherwise I have zero interest still. Seriously why the f did we have to try and go reinventing the game, again! I probably would have been looking forward to a franchise T20 competition even if they had separated the teams as they are now (just rename the team Western Fire).

I'm guessing we may see a shifting of fixtures to put as many 4 day games before fans can come back? Wasn't the 2nd stage of 4 day games due to be later in the summer?

Not sure that any fixtures will be moved, and not entirely sure why they should be?

Because you can see counties wanting as many limited overs games with crowds in as possibles to make money compared to 4 day games where people don’t really turn up. So shift the latter stage of the 4 day game to before June 21st and move back all t20 fixtures

Cricket fans wont be affected by things like that, they will be there regardless

Point more being the counties have been starved of income, allow them to put on games which will attract full houses when fans can be allowed in rather than 4 day games where you're lucky if the ground is quarter full

You're sounding just like a Fewer. Car  park full up as well ??

Somerset well in control of what is going on, all members will be admitted, sadly for others no CC games are going on general sale

Was a bit peeved to see cheapest T20 tickets are £32.

Glamorgan away looks a good shout at £10 a ticket though

Have they knocked this poxy 100 city thing on the head? I hope so ? It 'll make T20 look like a test match !

The average attendance at Taunton for a CC match is around 1500 -1800.

Out of interest where do you get these numbers from?

Somerset had 6632 members last year and have already out sold this number for this year and always been around 6500-7000
