12 in the match.

But hey its ok for them to produce shit wickets.

13 in the end - he took 8 in the second innings, so all over in 2 and a half days.

In principle, I have nothing against pitches being prepared to suit the home team's attack, be it batting or, in this case, bowling - the pitch is, after all, the same for both teams - but, unless the pitch is dangerous, I do resent 'lesser' counties being deducted points when the Test Match counties (and Essex) appear to get away with it.

Wickets starting to fall to part time spinners. Somerset could be in all sorts of trouble tomorrow

Tbh the 3 that have just gone quickly were all trying to clear the ropes and the pitch still isn't doing much at all. Assuming we are going to try and win the game tomorrow then we'll need as much time as we can get.

There’s no doubt we’ve regressed massively since Benkenstein came in and GvB took over the captaincy. Any early season fight has subsided and we’re a shadow of the side we were over the last three years, despite having largely the same players. Make of that what you will. Back to the drawing board we go.

Sky Sports and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) can confirm the new extension to their strategic partnership - a partnership now surpassing 30 years - which will see more live cricket on Sky Sports, more on free-to-air TV and further increased investment to help grow the game and get more people playing.

The four-year extension runs from the start of 2025 until the end of 2028, and includes:

90 extra hours of live cricket guaranteed on TV each year.

More women's cricket than ever before.

Coverage of The Hundred extended to 2028.

Increased prominence for the Vitality Blast, including more live games.

Continued investment in grassroots cricket including through the Dynamos Cricket programme.

Sky's investment also funds initiatives for children of all backgrounds to pick up a bat and ball, growing women and girls' cricket and reducing barriers to participation, as well as supporting a thriving domestic game and successful England teams.

Must be a record at Hove Mulder and Ackerman have put on 477 now for the 5th wicket!

It's definitely a Leics record for any wicket, and the total of 756-4 is the highest they've ever scored and that Sussex have ever conceded.

Edit: World record 5th wicket partnership is 520, highest for any wicket is 624.

Unfortunately we are well out of our depth in this league, we'll end up like a Norwich, too good for lg 2, not good enough for lg 1  !

Yeah band of rain, quite heavy, going across.  Will hit Bristol shortly.

Kent all out for 165 at Edgbaston is good thou.  It really looks like a straight fight between us/them for the second relegation spot.

We’ve got Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Kent to play in September, if we have one of our good Septembers, not like last year, we’ll comfortably preserve our status as the longest servers in the top division.

Fingers crossed it should be a fun second half of the season

Has Dom Bess always had the same "run up" where he runs three steps, stops has a hop and a skip then releases the ball?

No, it’s definitely changed. He used to just take a couple steps followed by a quicker one then bowl. It’s now longer and various pace changes.

True, with Bess getting some wickets on day one hopefully it might do a bit.

Another batting point would after lunch and then see where we're at.   Already lost 11 overs today on top of yesterday so unless someone gets skittled in an innings it looks like difficult to get a result.  Warks beating Kent would be nice, they'll only get 3 points if they do.

I was actually being sarcastic about ´Leach’ being back, in response to your comment about the bowling attack looking weak, apart from Jack - Jack Brooks is, of course, also in the 11.

In all seriousness, though, you may have touched upon something with your comment about Dom Bess - one of Tom Abell’s best mates, I heard on the commentary yesterday - inseparable apparently.

We are 26 runs from a fourth batting  point at Lunch, with 12 overs left to get them and four wickets in hand.

The pitch (and overhead conditions) will only get worse, so let’s see what happens this afternoon and tomorrow.
