6 down and Sir Cook is gone. 4 wickets and 34 runs to play with

Its very tight. It was this time yesterday with the new ball that Essex knocked us over.

Hopefully Somerset can return the dose...

Gregory usually does well at Lords. Getting out Cook early key

I'll give you that one, hopefully he gets his 5th very quickly tomorrow.

Davey has been almost unplayable at times this summer, can't believe he's wicketless today

It's not stretching it to say, if Sir Alistair had retired from all cricket when he retired from test cricket like many others do, we'd have this game almost sewn up and might even be current county champions.

Well played Sir!

..and Harmer. He’s been superb for them last few years.. albeit on dodgy pitches that somehow never get mentioned 🤨

Well at least we know we need to go all out from here on out to win, should see intent in the 2nd innings to give us long enough to have a real go at Essex, shouldn't be too much rain interruption from here out.

Shit or bust now. Will be annoying AF if they win this by virtue of scoring dozen more runs than us first up

Weather looks good so hopefully should have plenty of time for a result either way, easier said then done but I think if we can get Cook early(ish) then I think Essex will crumble.

So what is the Somerset plan?

I'm guessing bat out the day, try to get around 250 on the board then put Essex in first thing tomorrow, relatively easy target in 98 overs and pretty optimistic that we'd even get to that total.

Could have been a lot worse. Imagine how soft they are without Cook? How many overs in second innings?

No limit second time around but you presume we’ve got to stick them in fairly early tomorrow to have any chance

Crikey what are we doing here?

Having watched some of it it’s very windy and gloomy. Tomorrow is forecast to be very overcast so you never know.. BUT we need another 80-100 here
