My lad was bowling, put one a bit wide outside off stump, batsman flashed at it , caught the outside edge and the ball went to gully. Dave signalled a wide.... I do indeed run my club's youth cricket team, as well as umpiring in the WEPL (and playing for Somerset over 60s) I have no recollection of the incident which the Bard describes although I will concede that umpires do occasionally make mistakes.
