I was as 2236, ah well for clearly my contact is stupid!

A serious question, what would make the shop better?  when ever I take my little boy in I find it an acceptable experience and also buy from the online store.

It could be my contact who is the plank

I thought it was better before it moved. Found it disappointing since the changes...

More space and a wider selection of stock is about the only thing that would improve it. I find it very claustrophobic as it is.

A TARDIS - it's too small, limited stock and is a poorly planned space.

It's the space not the layout that's the difficulty in the shop. As you say it way too small an area.

Whover planned to put shop where it is didn't get it right. The old shop was far better IMO.

Not current or previous Club shop related...

..however this thread brought to mind memories from way way back 60s 70s when the Grandstand/Williams/West/Landsown Stand car park of yesteryear housed a long narrow shack like temporary building (think it had way in/way out steps at each end?) and was the clubs 'football program shop'....

Stock was unbelievable, all City match day programs from way back were available (home and away I believe?) shed loads of 'other clubs programs'  .. Cup games, Internationals etc etc ... was a regular matchday 'must visit' at the Gate for young WH and countless others, always seemed to have a never-ending line of customers and browsers making there way from one end to the other. It was an Aladdin's Cave of  football porn,... anything and everything seemed to be in there, (wouldn't be at all surprised if there was 'special interest' stuff under the counter in plain paper bags, :) )

It catered for football related printed everything as far as I remember, all laid out like an eye level newsagents 'top shelf mag display' ...

Sure many oldies here will recall it.. back in the days of rosette sellers, red and white bobble hats and wooden rattles .. :)

Sorry to digress, but am I the only one put off buying club merchandise made by the Bristol Sport brand because the quality looks very poor?

I think it's getting better. I've been put off buying in the past because of the quality. However I have this season's away shirt and I'm very pleased with it.

That said, I'm not sure there's another industry where a completely unknown brand (BS) with unproven quality could get away with immediately charging the same as established and reputable competition (Adidas, Puma etc). I had hoped that bringing the merchandise in house might make it a little cheaper, but that hasn't happened.

Also disappointing that there are virtually no late-season reductions.

When you say claustrophobic, do you mean on a busy match day?

I never go in the shop on a match day. I do pop into the cafe every three weeks or so when I'm in the area and usually have a browse in the shop while Im there.

Its claustrophobic even when only the staff are in there.

Not sure why you'd say it was claustrophobic in that case. It's no worse than any ordinary shop you might find in Cabot Circus or The Mall in that respect.

If anything the old the shop that you say you prefer was more cramped.

I always find it too dark, but not in a trendy sort of way, more gloomy and depressing. It is what it is, a shop selling football and rugby stuff, but it's just not right, not an inviting exoerience I suppose. Always looks packed out on match days do I guess they aren't going much wrong, or more the fact that people have to shop there or online is the only choice.

Best kit maker for me was Adidas.

Never liked anything in the shop when the club has made it themselves.

I'm a big fan of Adidas, but for me Puma was the best supplier we've ever had. It was also good at the end of the season when you could pick up bargains for low low prices.

Not true, I bought various adidas items including replica shirts at reduced end-of-season prices. The reductions only halted once it was brought in-house. The away shirt I bought this season was the first time I've ever paid full price.

That's true, but the discounts weren't anywhere near as big as they were when it was Puma.
