nickolas
Anyone seen the Bobby v Tammy head to head? both are what, 19 & 22? Capital of Scotland is either 'Glasgow' or 'dont know'!! Tammy had a mare all the way through, very surprised. Did a cracking Will Smith-esq acting part at the end though. Enjoy watching these things from the club though. Meh
I liked when Tammy said something like "there is nothing in my head right now". No shit Sherlock !! He obviously likes a laugh though and is very funny at the end

There are plenty of Tammy's out there. Same with George Dowling's Fallopian tube at the Gala dinner last week, astonishing. I was in a shop a couple of days ago and there were girls probably the same age as Tammy trying to work out what 10% of £1.50 was. They knew 10% of a pound was 10p but 'couldn't do the rest'. It was painful to watch, they had to use the calculators on their phones to try but didn't know how to work them either!
spudski
Dumbing down of society...I'm glad others are commenting on it. It's frightening how thick some of the younger generation are....as well as their parents.

Nothing too surprising with some of the players answers, someone in work believed me when I said a director of the national theatres new play was Ben Dover... our campaign nearly ran stating so ... Without wanting to turn this into a political debate, it's not just stupid people who voted to leave - far from it. Attitudes like that towards people who voted leave or those who support similar causes help to mobilise people in voting for things like Brexit.. Trump etc. As for the head to head.. embarrassing isn't it. You don't even have to be particularly academic to do well at it, just know a bit of general knowledge. Really basic stuff. Red Army 75
Wonder if Tammy scores tonight people will be cheering for the thick one . Even though the questions are easy to some . How do people know he hasn't suffered in the past with problems. Find some comments a bit harsh . So easy to judge people these days. Hope u don't read this forum Tammy . It's no slight on him personally, people are just pointing out that the questions are relatively straightforward and that our younger players seem to really struggle. Of course people will be cheering for him, it's no slight on him as a person or on his football ability - more a general comment on perhaps a lack of education for some young footballers. spudski
I don't think it's a slight on Tammy or footballers perse...but across the whole population. Standards in general knowledge as an average are getting lower every year. As youngsters we all had the same interests as they do today... similar distractions. Be it music, sport, girls etc. Something has gone wrong along the way. From my travels...With 'Developed' countries...I'd say it was definitely a lot worse in the UK and the States, compared to others. It's noticeable that General knowledge in youngsters, in far less developed countries, seems to be a lot higher in standard than many that are. Youngsters in general do not read newspapers or pay much attention to news or political programmes. Ask them what 30 of their mates had for breakfast or what some "B" lister said 3 days ago and you've their attention. The distractions now have priority. Worrying times! Go to Doc's...pick up latest prescription, race on scooter to Post office to pick up benefit....race to outside Weatherspoons by 11.30...skid to a stop, park up...jump out, and sprint waddle like a fat Usain Bolt to the bar and order the biggest fry up known to mankind. Then sprint waddle 20 yards across from the pub to the next productive business....the Vape store....quick zip down the street to Greggs...fill up on cakes and donuts....retire to comfy sofa....watch TV....sleep, repeat ;-)

Cowshed
Nothing wrong with these lads. I would like to see them sharing what they are good at. Their histories. The sacrifices they made as kids to make it through academies. And their true skills. Organise a meet-up in Ashton Park, players and kids and film the results. Create on line skills training for kids using players. Other clubs and players are doing this.

But why should that be? Maybe years ago the kids who weren't going to get the grades were guided into sport but this shouldn't apply now, not as much as it seems to anyway. Are they told too early they have talent and are special and can make the grade and give up on their education? Schools are watched closely now, every exam grade scrutinised much more than in the days when footballers weren't known for their intellect. For the record, I don't expect them to be hugely intelligent, but perhaps being able to name a town or city in Scotland (even if not the right one, have a bloody go) and work out a very, basic sum perhaps. From watching his interviews etc I actually think that's a bit of a myth. He just seems cleverer than the average footballer and probably would've gone to Uni if not a player. It's just exaggerated because the average footballer generally seems less intelligent than the average fan so it's a surprise to see one of higher intelligence.
