Bristol R*vers dustbin thread

Wow just had a quick look at the racism thread on asschat.  Some absolute dangers on there, including a guy whining that he lost his job for repeatedly using the n word at work and another who thinks describing pakistanis as p*kis is ok.  Apparently that is PC gone mad.  No wonder these strokers never get anywhere, they're stuck in the 70s.

The amount of bullshit in that statement though :rofl2br:

'Some of the best fans in the country'

'Family Club'

'99.9% are brilliant supporters'

Never known a club like it. Belters from top to bottom.

When are they gonna drop this 'Family Club' shite? Banning orders galore over at the dump, racist chanting, punching shirters, head butting mini buses, punching stewards and horses, and opposition players in the back of their net. Nothing 'Family' about the Sags at all. They couldn't be more further from being a family club if they tried. Just refer to themselves as what they really are 'The Tinpot Bristol Club'.

The abuse came from individual people, and was reported by Rovers fans.  I think FA punishments are given for larger scale obscene chanting, which is reported by the referee, or another FA official at the game - not even sure they ever actually punished a club for racial chanting, they are an impotent authority at times.

There is no place for it on the terraces, or elsewhere, and I hope that the culprits are identified and suitably punished.

It isn't the first time over the last 2 or 3 years though is it, clearly Rovers have problems regarding Racism and aren't doing enough to stamp it out.

Nonsense. Every great "family club" puts their family enclosure on an uncovered terrace these days, don't they..? I can't see how that gesture demonstrates anything but high regard for attracting families..!

Correct. Many of their "lads" at the time were card carrying NF members.

Too true LP, I remember being at an anti NF demo in the late 70's when the NF were having a meeting (in a local school believe it or not) they had to be escorted out by the police and who should be at the front of this motley mob? No other than the Tote End's main boy at the time (BD) we give him some stick

Wally now stated that he wants a "cosy" stadium with safe standing.

That'll be small and cheap with terraces - a bit like it already is perhaps ?

As you were Pikeys - till the bailiffs move in

I suppose tents are "cosy"

I do have concerns over their continued use of terracing though. It can't be safe, what with their problems when it comes to counting attendance figures.

Sags are always informing us of their regular sell outs and huge travelling numbers, yet the idiots in charge of keeping tabs on actual numbers consistently make the mistake of failing to count abouve 10,000 for home games and are so sloppy with their adding up that they publish away support that falls way short of ours.

Can they really be relied upon to keep their "best fans in the world" safe, with such sloppy counting..?!

Yes, look at us mistreating families by putting them in the top tier of a new 12000 capacity stand, if only we were as good as the gas with our welcome to new families...

The same trashton gate where those '82er teds' play at, they are so witty and original...

That's the one. With our inferior (average 19k+) crowds. Of course, that's when we can bring ourselves to attend our own matches, rather than infiltrating the away end at the Mem, although that only seems to happen on occasions when there is trouble..!

Let's be honest, it doesn't matter what state their stadium is in, when a few thousand of them are belting out a glourious rendition of their world famous (& much loved, of course) anthem, paying homage to an American whore, that they stole from Plymouth.

Bless 'em..!

Lets not forget also when they travel away and the thousands they take around the country, which far outweigh our away attendances (despite having a lower average every year...) and then the 50000 they took to wembley for the non league play off final and the thousands they have locked out of every home and away game...

How are we ever supposed to compete with such a fantastically supported club..?!

Now suggestion that the Jordanian billionaire is charging over 12k a week in interest in his investment that definitely isn't a loan.

http://gasheads.org/thread/6651/wael-interview?page=5

If he (his family) have secured a £10million loan against the ground and used the funds to pay their debts (some of) then at 6%APR that would be about right.

They should be pleased that is a damn site cheaper than the previous Wonga loan and it will take a bit more time before they go bust!

Wouldn't it be great if SL managed somehow to acquire the Mem, and then kicked them out?

Nah even better to come up with something with UWE, athletics stadium (which is UWE originally wanted) with basketball facilities.

Jim Bowen can open it (if he's still alive) and say "hey gasheads look at what you could have won".

They stole a whore from Plymouth? Stealing a ground pales into insignificance by comparison.

I don't know enough about this sort of thing so I have probably missed a key step here, but it sounds as if...

The bought the club with money released from the equity in the stadium, that line or credit hasn't yet been maxed out so they can continue to fund the club, but the charge for this is 12k per week.

Assuming they have paid less to borrow the money than they are claiming, they could in theory be taking 6k a week profit out of the club.

I'm not sure if they put any cash in or if it's just a smoke and mirrors thing.
