Yeah, here we go again...

QPR, another ground we visit practically every season. According to the Internet Rovers haven’t been there for 38 years. They’ll sell out their Cup Final, make some noise for once, then gloat that they take twice as many away as ‘da shit’...but they’ll obviously ignore the fact that for bread and butter away matches in the League they don’t make anywhere near the same effort. :laughcont:

38 years? :shocking:

Bristol Rovers vs QPR

Eastville

11 November 1980

Score 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers
Competition League Division Two
Attendance 6,612

One 15er claiming that Queens Park W*****s' Loftus Road ground is a "lovely stadium".

So far out of touch; not understanding that with Brentford's (current ground) it is the worst in the Championship !

Maybe it was...38 years ago.

And yes it’s a dump, horrible ground that many of us actively choose not to go to. But as said it will be their big day out (barring Sunderland away) this season. Bless.

That was a Tuesday. There wouldn't have been a bicycle race during the week, would there...?

Such a "lovely stadium" that most Hoops fans cannot wait for the club to finalise new ground plans.

It again sums up the huge gap between the 2 clubs when they are coming in there pants about a team we have played most seasons in the last few years. They will rant a rave about it being a great little ground when we think it’s a dump .....

forever in our shadow

How many City fans went to Sunderland last season? How many few gasheads will be bothered to go this season?

26 years since they played there in a league game, they'll take a decent following.
You'll know if they take loads, they take as many/more than we did = all over social media, they take less = silence

From the pits to the Ritz.

They will be amazed at seeing an all seater stadium with four stands, yes FOUR stands, that's not a cricket pavillion, half a stand, a few tents, a selection of white plastic garden furniture and a few odius looking garden sheds that they're used to. They'll be expecting the Queen and other dignitaries to be introduced to the players beforehand and of course Her Highness will be presenting the Watney Cup afterwards.

The reality is however, for Championship teams, is that this is a cramped little stadium that's been left behind by most clubs at this level. It's still incredible that they advise that you can't see the touch line thinking that as long as they've told the long suffering away fans then its alright.

Still, the sags will have plenty in common with them, they too have a massive chip and think they are chelsea when the reality is they're more like a Barnet.

Are they hoping to relocate?

This cup tie could be huge for the gas, if they don't leave at the end of the match they could squat in a new stadium. They aren't bothered about home grounds being outside Bristol, do they?

Enjoying this thread from the Hello Portishead page. Not sure if you need access to read it though, sorry.

Eleven quid to get from Portishead to the swamp and back? I`d expect it to include lunch and a free pint at that price!

Peddle operated turnstiles?

That means they finally caught up with the technology at Mangotsfield and Manor Farm.

Their new system, as far as I can gather, is the same one we had in the Atyeo about ten years ago. I wonder what we did with our old ones? Has Wally been sniffing round scrapyards in south Bristol?

Clubs often sell parts of their stadia when they get upgraded.

We sold our first set of floodlights to Burton Albion in the mid 60’s.

Maybe Rovers got this turnstile system from Salford as a part of the deal with the player who left them for Salford.

Wigan, unless my fading memory is failing me.

Burton according to the club.

Have seen people saying about stuff being sold to Wigan before though.

It's both innit...

1965: Division Three runners-up 1964/65, promoted to Division Two. The original set of floodlights erected in 1953 were sold to Burton Albion and a new set were officially switched on with a friendly against Wolverhampton Wanderers the same club which provided the opposition for the 1953 switch-on.

1992: Andy Cole is signed from Arsenal in July for a club record fee of £500,000. The old floodlight pylons are given to Wigan Athletic.
