Bat Fastard
I have just spent a good half hour cutting a grass snake out of horticultural netting -,anyone who uses the stuff should maybe try to keep it off the ground - difficult unless you have raised beds. The degree of entanglement defied belief - but the snake is now freed and recovering in a bucket, from which I expect it to escape once it is ready. They do smell! I often get them in the swimming pool and have to scoop them out. Also in France we get a lot of Whip snakes especially in the woodpile and they can give a nasty nip if not careful.
