Moeen going back to England as not happy in the bubble. Fair enough but a shame as he performed very well in this test.

Was pre-planned like Bairstow and Wood joining after 2, so you drop Bess (as opposed to rotate) for the guy whose only going to be playing 1 test and leaving.

As far as I have read and understand, it wasn’t pre planned that he would go home after the second test but it was planned he would go home early at some point.

I agree that Root could have chosen his words a bit better.  I’m not sure it was a pre agreed slot after the second test. Maybe it was but there a lot of conflicting words on this so quite hard to know what to believe.

All I do know is that no negative words should be said against Moeen whatsoever.

Yeah I agree - the way that Root said it suggested that it was just decided - I feel bad for him though, travelling around the world and then being stuck in a hotel room with covid and only getting to play one test.

Yep, Moeen has been in a bubble for ages and like Buttler, Bairstow et el clearly deserves  a break. I guess he was either offered the opportunity or asked if he could now rather than later.

No big deal imo.

From what I've read it seems it was his pre-agreed slot but after he played in this test they were hoping he'd want to stay on so kind of both pre-agreed slot and 'choosing' to go home

And i bet their bubble is stricter than what we are used to, it would drive me insane

That's one of the things I don't get on this tour, fans in the crowd who can touch the ball/throw it back and an Indian player licking their fingers before bowling both with the ball not being sanitised before use again. I thought the point of the isolation periods was to ensure a bio secure environment? These factors both mean its not completely secure so is the isolation periods just a best attempt to restrict it within the camp? And if you're not doing everything to contain the environment would it perhaps be better to test the players twice over a week like football seemingly does to ensure they don't have it to reduce isolation time for their mental health?

1 spinner v 3 spinners. Guess time will tell if this is a big mistake by England or a stroke of genius after practising with the pink ball under the lights.

Think it’s a case Root will step up if required as second spinner

Stokes was saying that the pink ball swings more than the traditional red and that the wickets in Ahmedabad react better to seam bowling . They’re not bunsons as they were at Chennai

Accepted but India have gone with 2 seamers and 3 spinners so somebody has got it wrong

Of course but he isnt a specialist spinner.  Shame your favourite spinner Moeen isn't there!
