Dolman_Stand
Hameed looking comfortable, I think as long as we are somewhere near 230 - 240 by tea with enough wickets in hand (6 at least) we will have a go at this.

And Its Smith
Idiotic from Hameed. Good learning curve though. He must have felt sick there for a second

Based on Root's cautious captaining I'm really not sure. I think they started the day with the primary aim of not losing as opposed to winning. This mornings run-rate supports that theory. Can see a scenario where we just bat the day out to draw. Depends how many wickets we've lost by tea and how many we need to chase Edited September 6, 2021 by Kid in the Riot
Dolman_Stand
Malan very lucky there, he's stuggling with that rough against Jadeja.

Not surprising but still disappointing to see. Eoin Morgan would go for it.

And Its Smith
Madness from Hameed. Block, block, block, run for a single that isn’t there.
TonyTonyTony
At least Root will score runs. Malan was getting bogged down.

EmissionImpossible
They must have talked about it, if not Hameeds fault but Malan looked awful and wasn’t backing up at all.

Its probably the best way to play it in fairness, England couldn't win this match in the morning session but they could definately have lost it. The other thing to factor in is if we lose this match we can't win the series which is the ultimate aim whereas a draw at least keeps it alive. Morgan also has some of the best ODI players in the world to gamble with, Root doesn't have this luxury.
EmissionImpossible
Anyway getting Root in quicker may not be such a bad thing as he looks so good.

Might not sound like much but would have shown better intent.

Kid in the Riot
Root needs to be there at the end of the day for us to have any chance of winning. Can't see it though
And Its Smith
Poor from Hameed. He knows he can’t be out LBW if it pitches there. It’s a good ball but not one that should bowl an international

Bs4Red
Root being very positive. For me time to shut up shop and bat out the overs. Cant win from here but becoming increasingly likely we lose.
