Chris Woakes, unluckiest player in test history? Has a better average than Broad and Anderson with the ball in England, good with the bat, how many test wickets would he have if he’d been allowed the new ball his whole career?

Very good bowler but better average than those two doesn’t make him a better bowler than them

Stokes' absence makes team selection very tricky for the next test, think we will go for:

Burns

Sibley

Crawley

Root

Pope

Buttler

Woakes

Curran

Bess

Wood

Broad

Alternatively Root could bat at 3 and Dan Lawrence slots in instead of Crawley but bats below Pope in the order, also Root could play himself as the main spinner to fit a fourth seamer in but also allwo Crawley & Lawrence to play.

I think Archer will stay in and miss 3rd test with a returning Jimmy

  1. Burns
  2. Sibley
  3. Crawley
  4. Root
  5. Pope
  6. Buttler
  7. Woakes
  8. Curran
  9. Bess
  10. Broad
  11. Archer

Just shows the vast number of options we have in the bowling department at the moment, could really do with Burns and Crawley (if it is him) making decent scores in the next test to show that the batting department is well stocked too.
