I was just reading the close of play summary of the match between West Indies and Sri Lanka, where Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper, Niroshan Dickwella, was bowled, played on, when he was 96 Not Out.

Nothing remarkable about that, you might think, but he was described (by Cricinfo) as 'The greatest nearly-man in Test history' and, to satisfy my curiosity, I looked at the list they helpfully provided of Test players who had scored 50 runs or more in a Test innings but never gone on to make a Century - poor old ND has done it 17 times, with today's 96NO being his highest Test score.

What I did also find interesting, however, was that England's former captain, JM (Mike) Brearley, was high up in that list, with a highest score of 91, but without a single Century in his 39 Tests.

Of course, memory fades with time, but I would have sworn that he scored at least a few Centuries in his illustrious Test career.

Here is a link to the list in case anybody is interested:

Seen some reports today that English supporters won't be able to travel for the Ashes this winter.

Not massively surprising with Australia unlikely to open borders fully this year at least.

I'm hoping for West Indies tour March 2022 for travel but even that is a bit of an unknown a this stage sadly.

That can change between now and the Ashes but obviously it’s up to the Aussie government to decide when and if to ease travel restrictions.

This is a good example of when a vaccination passport would be useful.

If he didn't play for a fashionable county he wouldn't even be on England's radar, let alone a regular fixture in the side.

Strange as well that he bowled the full ten when Topley hasn't?

I don't see the point in Tom Curran unless i'm missing something?

He started well at international level but has been found out and needs binning, I'd like to see Pat Brown brought in for limited overs  if you're looking for a bag of tricks.

Not sure about that reckon Stokes was out there.

I thought it was but after the decisions we were getting at the start of the tour I had a smile  on my face, especially seeing the Indian fans on reddit kicking off about bad decisions and bias against them.
