Let's be fair the football was crap and both sets of supporters decided to entertain the masses , fair Doo. Some terribly frightening old boys had a comeback for the game when perhaps the should've know better .

I thank the police for keeping it mostly tight in and around Ashton for us normal fans, I was in no mood for a ruck as I'm on crutches

Those crutches can cause a lot of damage.

Evil Post and tabloids claiming this!!!!

I exited Landsdown, passed right through some very, very well mannered Millwall fans exiting too, not a sign of any aggression, passed through police cordon up by the park, where our "Burbury Apes" were assembled, police on them, as they attempted to cross the park police rounded them up, the herd then charged or were driven up into the corner by Frayne Rd. I guess the assembled brain cell continued to wander around looking for trouble. I drove up on the Portway where I saw a small group of Millwall fans under heavy escort, I presume to TM! Feel a bit embarrassed about the level of policing placed upon them. More annoyed that tabloids are hyping up stuff again, or did I miss some widespread disorder?

Doubt if anyone was wearing Burberry you ******* snob.

The amount of police around the south London visitors at two pubs was testament to their intentions. Perhaps they found what they were looking for.

*********... !!!

(Police seemed to have their work cut out for them for a few minutes, one rather excitable copper (the small one with the long batton.... got what appears to have been a sneaky OTT baton whack in, .. could be complaints about that... but in fairness not being there seeing and hearing exactly what the situation was - maybe the coppers action was justified... but he certainly looked a little 'excitable' to say the least.. small man syndrome perhaps?)  No need for anyone to get excited though if the morons looking for trouble weren't and simply behaved.

Looks like that little dick head did his best to start trouble. Wonder if Julie can tell us whether he has been coached or praised for his approach to sensitive community policing.

Dont even understand why you are giving the details or reporting it here...

As someone else has said, stops the rumours getting out of hand. No specific details mentioned so what's the issue?

People moan when there is no information anywhere, then moan when there is anyway!!

To be fair to @Thatch35, he moans about absolutely everything, so he's consistent at least.

Blimey , is that @JulieH waving her big one around ?

Nope not me, unfortunately I was sat in the control room for this one.

I will ensure the video goes before the relevant department tomorrow when back in work for further investigation to be made FYI

That little shortie copper for starters is way way too short to be one in the first place. Secondly, he pushed that tall geezer way over the top and then proceeded to hit someone, unprovoked, with a wacking great big baseball bat... that is not sensible Bristol policing and no wonder the fans pushed forward.

My Dad, god rest his soul, used to say the Police are all useless and he was a well educated man but had no time for their heavy handedness or their clumsy investigating. The more I see stupidity like that from a little short arse copper the more I agree with him.

Correct thing to do, people like that tarnish the police force. In that video I saw a group of idiots and one thug. The thug is wearing a police uniform.

Agreed. It's really really obvious as well and is the only thing of any note that stands out from that video. He/she needs to be taken to task over this, really unnecessary and over the top.

Luckily the police have footage of the disorder in the park!

i worked Saturday and can confirm there was a small fight prematch on Ashton road that was between 2 groups of * so called fans*.

post match there was a larger fight in the park between millwall and city, lots of footage from police officers which we will review. Millwall were then escorted to Bristol temple meads whilst a group of city loosely followed them via the back streets of Ashton.

there was an incident during the game near to and at the colaseum pub in Redcliffe between millwall and city fans who chose not to go to the game. Again footage being reviewed.

i thought overall except for this very small minority both sets of fans were great, and no smoke genades( although no goals!)

If those millwall fans where held back on the road instead of going into the park no handbags would have been thrown..I watched what happened and you're mates in blue quickly had it covered.just a load of chest beating what I saw!!

Puts things straight. There are frequently post on forums from people making things up and starting rumours. That's something that cant be understood and could lead to something serious.

Nothing serious happened all day..before or after .why we're millwall let out the same time surely this is one game where the streets needed to be empty just a thought like ..Julie how about your little mate caught on camera smacking some innocent fan eh!! Now that is a thug and nothing will happen to him!!

Can I ask why the Police decided to have two groups of Millwall fans escorted? One down Coronation road, and another group across the river down Cumberland road.

Surely it would have been less disruptive to the rest of the fans leaving the area, if they were taken down one route?

Apologies if I've missed something glaringly obvious or it's been spoken about elsewhere.

Probably because one lot we're going to Temple Meads, and the other to coaches and cars?

I was held up in Coronation Road before the match by about 10 police vans (literally) escorting Millwall fans from Temple Meads. They could have got them all in the vans and driven them to the ground, saved us having to sit in a traffic jam. It was like a scene from Hot Fuzz, I was looking out for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Love that movie, filmed in Wells though, not Bemmie. Are Millwall fans that dangerous or is it just "Police intelligence" making them over-react?
