Loan watch 2017/18 Season

Watched our lads at Cheltenham today. MOTM performance from Morrell who looked head & shoulders above everyone on the pitch. On the ball was neat & tidy always looking for a forward pass. Excellent decision maker.  Off the ball was tigerish & put a shift in. Good talker. At one stage dropped a shoulder breezed past two players before hitting a shot just over. Standing ovation when subbed with about 10 to go. We'll played young un.

Anyone who thinks Taylor Moore is playing beyond his level should of seen his performance today. Technically good as we know but he's a centre back (today) who doesn't want to head the ball or put his body on the line. It was two poor teams on show with majority of the game played in the air but he'll come up against much better teams than Stevenage. Made one sloppy short back pass towards the end where the striker nipped in but poked it wide. If he can man up there's a player in there somewhere but he needs this loan at this level.

Hinds come on early 2nd half & looked sharp but had zero service. A couple of times was on the shoulder of the last defender but got ignored.

@GrahamC Your man Eisa was quiet as he was last game by all accounts. He didn't look as sharp as I was expecting but TBF he's been plucked from park football now training full time has played a lot of games this last month with pressure on him now to provide the goals to keep Nam up after his excellent early start. Needs a rest & this where hopefully Hinds will step in & shine.

Overall two poor teams on display but our lads will get game time their in a tough no nonsense physical league which long term will do them the world of good & exactly what each player needs at this stage in their development IMO.

Comments from MKD forum on Golbourne.

"Thought he done well on his debut, willing to go forward and support the attack and defended well".

"He was decent, but his crossing was shite, from what I can remember all of his crosses were straight into the arms of the keeper, it was hilarious".

"Thought he had a good second half today, don't know what chance we have of signing him permanently".

If you read the last page of their match day thread they were well impressed.

This is what I love about our forum. The real interest in  how our young lads are doing on loan, even how Scott Golbourne is doing even in the likely hood he will never play for us again.

Can't imagine many clubs have the same thread on their forum.

Love it!!

Is there genuine merit in our boys being on loan at the worst team in the football league (92/92) currently?

Shocked, but pleasantly surprised that Morrell was a stand out player.  Don't think it will last but pleased to hear!

Our management & coaching team clearly think so mate. Of course playing in L2 would be far more beneficial than playing Academy football for all the obvious reasons,  you know that! Doesn't matter if the club are top or bottom it's all about getting minutes in a competitive division & all three will get that at Nam. They need to earn their stripes!

Morrell's gone there with one league game under his belt 3/4 yrs ago, trained with his new team mates for a matter of days and ran the game (when it was played on the floor) like seasoned veteran. It's a confidence game and he's set his level now, up to him to keep it up.

Taylor Moore is a defender who doesn't want to get hurt. He'll have to at that level or he'll get found out quickly. Freddie is raw & needs games.

Yep but the thing is PB we don't know what other clubs were interested (If any) in our lads. Football's a very clicky game,  it's a mates game we have connections with Nam, WSM, Bath etc. and need to use them which is exactly what are doing. I got no doubts at all if a L1 club was interested in Taylor Moore (especially after his 30+ games for Bury last season) then he would of gone their not to 'daddy's team' in L2.

A bit worrying that Taylor Moore doesn't stand out even at this level - given the fee we are alleged to have paid for him.

Blimey. One game. Hasn't played a competitive game at centre back for nearly a year.

The lack of patience sometimes is a worry with our policy of buying young and developing.  People want progress almost immediately

Are you surprised? It's not just the youngsters, it's all of our players!

13 MIN interview with Tinman about the loan players. Includes a few match clips of them too - pretty interesting to hear his perspective .   link

Thought it was interesting the options we had for McGoalsky and where he chose to go.

Good interview that, nice little insight.

Yep, McCoulsky impressed last season, but was surprised a Scottish Prem side wanted him!
