Stewards playing a dangerous game

Guns are probably more fun than investigating burglaries.

Why so?

They are effectively doing guard duty and anyone who's been in the forces will tell you that it's the most boring activity you can do.

To add to it, they take on a hell of a lot of responsibility: 'terms of engagement' (e.g. even if a terrorist has killed someone and they then drop their weapons, you can't just take them out no matter what provocation there is); accountability for their weapons; and IF they are unlucky enough to be involved in an incident, having to make that life and death decision that will not only affect the person on the receiving end but also themselves (because they will be investigated to ensure that they did everything lawfully). People in the armed forces are trained to kill people, I can't say the police are.

The only time they are ever likely to fire their weapons is on a range and even then, it's highly regulated.

But then again, your comment might have been some dig at the police on some perceived jolly. Only you know if that is the case.

suggest that before getting heavily critical of the stewards you have ago at doing the job yourself.probably the most thankless job there is.

anyway as mentioned earlier there would be no need for stewards if people  behaved in a sensible manner and kept within the rules

I thought they were meant to direct people to their seats, answer queries etc?

you try investigating anything with 2 hands tied behind your back and a blindfold on while using a quarter of the resources you had 10 years ago, then come back and see if you can do any better,

Thats what modern police have to put up with

Yeah. Was pretty unnerving seeing that walking in!

Why?  Surely you have been seeing armed police at Airports for sometime now,  as you probably know, it is due to the critical security at present and it's good to see action being taken at a Championship ground and not just Premiership grounds.  It's a shame that this has to happen,  but prevention is better than cure, who knows where these cowards may strike next!

Yes, agreed. They provide a shit service, mainly the fault of the government.

The police service - great until you actually need them.
