PunkRockDad
Aberfan - Another year passes. A story of survival, love and community. The past is a foreign country: They do things differently there. XX

BigTone
I remember it happening but maybe did not realise the extent of the disaster back then due to my age. Terrible thing to happen and may it never be forgotten. RIP all.
Guest
Even though it was before my time it makes me livid to read about how the NCB and Governent tried to get out of removing the tips after the accident and had the audacity to take £150k out of the disaster fundraising to clear them
joe jordans teeth
Truly awful and the sections of city fans who sang that song about it should hang there heads in shame

PHILINFRANCE
If anything heartwarming can be said about this awful, heartrending tragedy, there is something strangely uplifting in seeing how the cemetery is so well and lovingly tended. Guest
I believe they've buried parents with their children now. At rest all together.

As a father of two beautiful daughters, there is surely something awful and tragic about that simple sentence - parents should never have to bury their children. No. Even though Aberfan was 15 odd years before I was born it really hits me hard as a parent. I can't even begin to imagine what it did to the whole community, a whole generation wiped out. The Dolman Pragmatist
We had a game that Friday night, a 3-3 draw at home to Portsmouth. I caught a bus back to Sea Mills and saw a news placard from the bus on Baldwin Street saying that there had been a fatal land slip in South Wales. I’ve never forgot what I was doing that day...
