Single greatest moments watching City

It’s up there. Ashton Gate erupted when that goal went in (as it did for Bryan’s goal as well) and it has joined my list of special moments - in no particular order:

Roberts’ winner in the 5-4 Mansfield win.

Donowa’s winner against the fewers. Also Hollowhead’s penalty miss. I knew we were going to win when that happened.

Flint’s hat-trick goal against Walsall.

Trundle v Palace.

Tinnion at Anfield.

Everything about Wembley in 1986. I can only remember a couple of specific moments from that game (especially the first goal) but the overall magical feeling from that day has stayed with me.

All these are special in their own way. Impossible to put them into any order.

You think a goal against Rovers compares to a winning goal against Man Utd in a cup quarter final..?!!

For me yes. We had not beaten them for years. Beating your local rivals meant and still for  mean more than beating man u.  Maybe football meant more to me back then

It was certainly up there with the best moments, but last night was on a different scale!

It’s 4th behind Roberts against Hartlepool In third, Donawa against the Gas in second but they all trail Citys greatest ever player since Atyeo the late, great Gerry Gow at Coventry that kept us in the top flight

Not forgetting the even later goal by Donnie Gillies which made it 2-2, before Jimmy Hill got the Sunderland score on the scoreboard!

I can't see anybody has mentioned Cheesley's winner at Highbury - our first game back in the First Division and we won away at Arsenal.

That, and Tinnion's at Anfield for me.

Yes, that Arsenal game, the last game that season at Coventry and of course the night we got promoted to Div 1 against Portsmouth. Before that the away win at Leeds in the FA Cup was equivalent to winning away to Man City now. But last night's game was the best we've had for ages.

I was too young to travel to the Coventry game, but if I had been there, I might have rated that first. Of all the others mentioned, last night, the atmosphere, the sheer joy of that last minute goal, plus the class of Bryan's goal, just standing in that stadium soaking up the atmosphere, realising that, finally, after 40 bloody years we are finally getting back to the big time...I can't think of another game to match it. Being there with my son added to the occasion.

It's hard to say really- thinking about it in no particular order:

  • Last night was hard to top really. That last minute winner, vs a team who speacialised in Fergie time- couldn't write it better.
  • Hartlepool 04 was brilliant- all hope was lost, then suddenly, goal and GOAL! Roberts obviously the key moment there.
  • Trundle v Palace- the surge of belief that we were on the verge of a return to the Big Time...

I think last night would have been my number one moment except for the fact that I wasn’t able to make it last night and so was watching on a stream.

Trundle v Palace is therefore still my number one moment.

Hopefully the last minute winning goal by Flint against Arsenal at Wembley in February next year will top it all.

Gow was world class that night. A majestic, performance.

As were the rest of the side.

Nights like that and the one against United are what makes our club great

That Goal last ngt tops the lot for me, truly incredible! A moment my 10 year old son will never forget.. should have seen his face :)

Having gone to both Palace play off games it's a hard call between Noble and Trundle goals but Nobles comes 2nd for me, what an incredible moment and goal that was :))... memories that will live with us forever!

Its up there with Mann's goal against Forest, and Donny Gillies' goal at Elland Road

Also maybe Gillies' goal at Highfield Road

And Joe Royal's fourth on his home debut against Middlesborough

and Macca's free kick in the play-off semis

Or how about the Whitehead goal against Portsmouth that put us in the old first division

Joe Royal scoring 4 goals on his debut home to M’boro 26 Nov 1977 was great.

But last night was magnificent.
