Well actually I work as an online shopper for a supermarket, you'll be surprised at how people are still buying DVD's over Blu-rays just because either they still dont have a blu-ray player or its because new DVD's are like £6 cheaper than a blu-ray and blu-ray players can still play DVD's and offer "upscaling" technology, which at the moment doesnt justify the £6 price increase. I myself have a fairly old Blu-ray Player - it had a software update to "upscale" any blu-ray disc to 4k (please remember 4k blu-rays are different) - but sadly only DVD's to 1080p - which dont get me wrong, still looks brilliant. Its this scaling technology thats keeping DVD's alive, most people are happy with it because they just dont know any better cos never got a native copy for what their machine can do!
