Ma Baker by Boney M

Lyrics changed slightly. Fits nicely and has a good fit for a chant. What's reckon...

Our Baker

He is the meanest cat
In old Bristol town
He is the meanest cat
He really mowed them down
He has no heart at all
No no no heart at all

He is the meanest cat
Oh he is really tough
He leaves the opposition flat
He's always tough enough
He takes his boys along
Cause they are mean and strong

Ma Ma Ma Ma - Ma Baker - he fights for his sons
Ma Ma Ma Ma - Ma Baker - to handle their guns
Ma Ma Ma Ma - Ma Baker - he never would cry
Ma Ma Ma Ma - Ma Baker - but he knows how to die

Repeat. Reads and looks cheesy, but imo would work. Proper bounce along.

Someone also needs to get a chant going with DISCO as the theme behind the chant. It's made for footy imo. Loving a bit of cheesy 70's disco...feel good factor made for footy imo

On a bit of a tangent - In fairness to Mourinho, I think away from his almost caricature personality - he was pretty gracious in defeat and is a good man. People get taken in by his invented personality and care too much about comments to the media.

Apparently he entered our dressing room to congratulate the players, presented LJ with a congratulatory shirt with a good luck message and on the Tunnel Cam vid you can see he spent ages with our mascots. Add to that @RedM‘s account of his great behaviour at the Grenfell charity game.

It’s a bit like Warnock - all deflection tactics. Get people talking about his comments rather than his players.

I think @spudski may have started on the mulled wine a bit early.

You gotta sing it in your head fella...

All football chants look crap on paper. And they all pretty much stem from cheesy songs.

Heard the Disco one done by the Barmy Army for Ashly Giles...it sounded awesome.

Read any lyrics by any song writer...and they always look crap. It's not until put to voice that it works.

The cheesy catchy songs fit best with footy chants.

I can totally get why 70's disco doesn't look great for footy...but when sung...which ive heard at cricket test match's it really works.

The Stock, Aitkin and Waterman of football chants says so....

I learnt everything from Swedish Tommy

No, not a reference to the Howard Jones synth classic from the early 80s.

Suggesting new songs seems to be trending on here quite recently so thought I would share this which I saw on Facebook or somewhere:

Oh what a night,

Late December down in BS3

Korey scored a goal on 93

What a feeling

What a night.

Not sure how original it is and maybe it's already been suggested in one of the other threads, but in my humble opinion I think it is worthy of consideration for adoption into the South Stand/Section 82 match day repertoire.

If nothing else, we might not have to hear/sing the Hörður Magnússon song (which I do like by the way) 48 times per match.

Cheers

Chaz

Was shown that earlier today,in fact that’s quite good and could easily catch on.

I didn't think he was that bad.

I am always baffled by the weight placed on hitting the woodwork.

It's a ******* miss.

Drawing the save with a shot on target is far more important.  You can hit the wood work all day long for all i care.

Pepper the goal with accurate shots and you will score eventually.

Yeh this very good...

Was also thinking maybe we could adopt the ... Lee Tomlin song to..

Lee Johnson my lord ....

Nathan Baker:

Nathan Bakers magic, He wears a red & white hat,

And if you threw a brick at him he'll head the f*cker back,

He really hates the Rovers, he wishes they were dead,

And if he sees a gas head, he'll kick them in the head

We were having a go on another thread - clever lyrics not my forte but came up with this

Like the reference in your post to 'On 93'

Could use / hash the second verse below if they wanted a second verse

‘ OH WHAT A NIGHT

LATE DECEMBER DOWN IN BS3

WHAT A SPECIAL NIGHT FOR LLEE

KOREY,  KOREY , WHAT A NIGHT’

’OH WHAT A NIGHT

YOU KNOW JOSE DIDNT KNOW HIS NAME

BUT LIFE WAS NEVER GONNA BE THE SAME

WHAT A GOAL , OH WHAT A NIGHT’

Any Boney M song should work as a football chant. They knew how create a earworm song.

Somebody clever should be able to create a Brownhill chant from

''Brown Girl in the ring'

Shame he's not a winger despite playing on right at moment or

'Brownhill on the wing tra la la la la......' fits perfectly for a start !

Spooky you should suggest a Baker chant @spudski - was only thinking earlier he tends to be overlooked

Don't like copying old clubs chants but his Villa chant is a good one and could be used or adapted / rejigged

Need to change the last two lines - let's not worry about the gash
