Loïs Diony - Confirmed Loan Agreed

This possibly looks like our boy then. Big gamble given his form this season. We really need players that can hit the ground running but assume we've done our homework...

Although I take your point, it is not a gamble in the grand scheme of things; we have him on loan for the next three months or so. During that time LJ and his staff will be able to have a good look at him before commiting the club to a substantial transfer fee.

Take your point completely. But if we're looking for an immediate impact then it remains a gamble of sorts if he is to be our man that we pin our hopes on to progress this season. Very happy to trust in LJ, MA and the team though given where we are at the moment and how they've turned things around so well.  Here's hoping he hits the ground running if the rumours are true.

I'm sure he won't be the guy we pin our hopes on. Diedhiou and Reid are those guys. Honestly the idea of us buying a £10m striker now never quite sat right with me, unless he was definitely going to be able to play our game immediately and didn't have stupidly high wages - unlikely.

Put it this way - I'd rather give him a go than Woodrow at the moment.

Yes, and also taylor, engvall and maybe djuric too.

Exactly. Realistically the likes of Afobe, Grabban, Abraham and other names mentioned recently would've been on absurd wages for us. I could never see us paying 8 figures for Hugill either.

It sounds like it's a loan with a view to a permanent so low risk, his wages won't break the bank.. having 2 French speaking forwards will benefit both him and Famara. Seems sensible based on those factors if it's true.

Can't comment on his ability because I'd never heard of him before this thread! Some decent stats from last season though - 11 goals and 8 assists in 38 games which is pretty solid.

Meh, personally I'd be fine with at least two of them. Djuric I definitely would like to see back amongst the squad when he's fit, and really I'd like Engvall to make a name for himself.

It's also worth reiterating for anyone joining this late and bemoaning his lack of goals this season, he's playing in a side struggling badly in Ligue 1, so it's not like Neymar and Di Maria are teeing up open goals for him to miss.

If Johnson and co want him, he'll have been identified as someone who will fit in the team the terms of style. He and Diedhiou could have a good understanding too.

I like these kind of signings. He'll have a mate in Diedhiou and he seems like he could compliment Reid. Scored 3 more goals than Diedhiou did last season in Ligue 1.

LJ learning French makes more sense every day.

That's the pragmatic and realistic approach and I definitely agree with your last sentence! I think I got sucked in a little with all the talk about Afobe etc but I'm more than happy to go with this guy alongside Bobby and Fammy as I said.

I get it, and if we were a team like Villa I'd be suggesting Afobe all day. These potential signings are the ones I enjoy more though.

One highlight here sticks out, nearly 3 minutes in, watch him sprint back half the length of the field to put in a slide tackle in the left back position. That's really good to see.

Looks like this is happening on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Wacky yes

He rushed his mess, English D2 touches a lot of TV rights, we see where his "sports project" is. Not a goal with ASSE, he rotten his end of the season with the DFCO in preparing his output when Julio continued to get high. No regrets, no good mentality, he would have been good when the DFCO was motivated.

So he didn't score with his rotten ASSE and the DFCO while Julio smoked skank?

Who’s Julio & why’s he getting high?

I know only highlights but he looks strong likes running at players and seems pretty quick, if this is the player I am actually quite excited

He looks like he has a bit of everything to his game - unselfish too. I'd be excited even to have him as an impact sub.

Hasn't made it at ligue 1 but scored a similar amount of goals to kodjia at the level below.

He had 10 goals and 8 assists last season in Ligue 1

Yup

Thanks SDC, have a like.

Could be a good deal then considering Bournemouth were quoted £13M in the summer and St Etienne supposedly paid €9M for him. Get his confidence up and he looks a good player!

I wonder why the move to St E hasn't worked out?

Pretty much single handedly stopped Dijon being relegated from Ligue 1 last season. Not sure how that classes as "not making it"

Don't think the person you responded to knew those goals were in Ligue 1, to be fair.

Different type of forward to what we got from the footage, coming forward from wide areas will create space for others. I dont think we have that from a striker on our books. Looks strong and got decent pace too.

Could be an astute signing.

11 goals in 35 apps last season in Ligue 1 for a team who finished 13th, and cost ASSE £9m in the summer. Sounds alright to me.

Shorter video of goals and assists here.

1.40 in the video is evidence he can do it on cold days, but can he do it on a cold night in Preston?

Far more likely than other names suggested, good age, good experience, if he can replicate Kodja goals, the price also is more in our area too and with scope to improve. This is more the type of player we would try to sign with our policy .

I think it's the eight assists that will be as much an interest for Lee-team player/link up/that DNA!..
