A Darkwood Red
My uncle, who's gas, used to take me to Eastville in the mid 70's for a few pre-season friendlies. I remember seeing both Ipswich and Arsenal. My dad who's also gas simply couldn't afford to go to games back then so luckily I was able to grow up and make my own choices, thank goodness. Jack Dawe
Is there ever an equivalent thread on the Few forum, ie "Ever watched City at home not playing Rovers?" Or do they frown upon such candour?

Jack Dawe
Went to watch Swindle once, v Leeds. Stood in the "Town End," with the Swindle fans. And some Leeds fans. Leeds fans make themselves known, and shortly after are escorted out of the home end and around the pitch to the other end. With barely a murmur, never mind a handbag, from the locals. Swindle did rather better on the pitch, winning 3:2.
The Bard
Twice. Once at Ikea watching Arsenal as a 12 year old with my dad and brother (brother liked Arsenal). We celebrated when Arsenal scored. The other was their game at the Gate v Swindon. Was in the Park end. That seemed like a less bad perversion that going in the East End or Enclosure.. Only time I've watched a game at the Gate in the away end..
reddoh
watched Rovers with Mates in the early eighties and city on my own every other week never watched them again after Tesco and Ikea took the whole ground until my fathers 70th birthday when I paid for us in hospitality great seat at the top of the stand spent the whole time looking out over the city of Bristol I have not got any idea of who they played or what the score was
andy114
I went to Eastville in the early 70s to see Rovers Reserves v Swansea Reserves to get a voucher for a Cup match City v Rovers. I also went mid 70s to see Rovers v Fulham. That was the only time I saw George Best play.

Between heaven and hell
I went to the Gas v Leeds match a few years ago, Leeds won three nil and I was stood with Rovers fans along the side with a healthy contingent of Leeds fans mixed in as well. Quite enjoyed it actually.
BRIAN WILSON
Well kind of, many years ago I went to the Dick Sheppard Testimonial against WBA (his previous club) - Dick (shepps) was a top bloke, also a neighbour to my parents and my best mate was his son Martin. Even had a lift to the game with Dick.
Second City Exile
Used to catch the football special from Keynsham on a Tuesday night to watch whoever was at home that week, so saw quite,a few games at Eastville in the 1960's. My brother is a Rogers fan so went with him. In return he came to Ashton Gate- late spring games sitting on the terraces at the Open End
