Police presence

Basically crapped themselves because Willem were here. They don’t seem to grasp that we are friends and show each other generous hospitality with zero trouble. For some reason they think it’s all about trouble.

Something about "running on rails"...two dimensional thinking-but only on the good days.

Hopefully cancelled due to lack of support.

Out of reactions but agreed.

In general...

Did the Willem lot contain a 'risk' element within perhaps? Worry about a pyro being let off maybe as is more common in European football another possibility? Police presence to deter this one theory.

Any ideas what that was all about?

At least 3 riot vans parked up outside and absolutely loads of them in full riot gear hanging around by the Dolman after the game.

Sheffield Wednesday have no reputation for trouble at all and most people who were at the game were far more interested in keeping warm.

Operation Overtime strikes again?

Sheffield Wed most definitely do have a rep for trouble. Owls Crime Squad. 2003 they brought an impressive mob down to AG and later that season in 2004 City took an even more impressive and much bigger mob to Hillsborough. Having witnessed some of it first hand that day they were on their toes.

Little bit of trouble today apparently after.

Wednesday brought a few today fair play to them but quickly sent on their toes

It is correct that there was a march planned in Bristol for today involving some members of perceived right wing groups. There was also information that a counter protest was organised by left wing group members also.

The march was cancelled yesterday afternoon and although it was unlikely anyone would continue to travel we could not be certain this was the case so some police officers already warned to work remained in the Bristol area .

other officers resourced to work it were dropped back to core response policing.

the football game was policed as a b grade which is not as many police as Cardiff Leeds or millwall.

No officers travelled from south torkshire police due to weather conditions yesterday

4 Dutch police officers assisted us with policing of the Dutch fans , none of whom presented any policing issues as a result

1 male arrrsted from Sheffield Wednesday following a disturbance in the crowd during the first half . He is currently still in custody with us .

Apparently some Wednesday fans were singing in Ashton Road, but luckily there were some fans on hand to dish out some swift justice so the police didn’t have to step in to curtail the singing.

Not the reason it happened but you keep protecting the bullies, good on you squire

4 Dutch police travelled all the way to Bristol, because of 100 Dutch fans attending a city game? Really?

I can't believe the police presence today, completely over the top, yet you don't see a copper from one week to the next in normal life!

Quiet day then.

I wonder how many other crimes in the area today had so much attention paid to them?

Lawrence Weston, 20 zone

Parry's lane

Sea Mills, 20 stupid

coming down from Leigh Woods to Bower Ashton

Clevedon Southern way

going onto Third way Avonmouth from the roundabout (copper with a motorbike, nice new camera and tripod)

and I'm sure they still show up at that lovely location on the hill going in to Shepton Mallet by the old Babysham place...

Correct, SW have been on the radar for BCFC for a few years now.

2004 was a big away day when we did take a load after they gave it the “big un” against some young un’s at AG.

5000 odd went and there was plenty of afters at Hillsborough. This fixture will come again - mark my words. Infact you have SU end of season and there is plenty of history there also! Best get used to OB presence.

Why were ob in the Dolman concourse half time. I saw no neo nazis or south yorkshiremen. Simply bullies. Demo scrapped so go fight crime.

So you will say that because the 4 police officers from Tilburg were, there were no policing issues with the Dutch fans.

Do you really believe in fairytales. We’re over for a party with our brothers from Bristol and see our second club play.

JulieH is not to be trusted on here. One sided always with this lot. Lots of overtime for them. Too many corruption cases, The use of kettle tactics at football matches, you are guilty until proven innocent in there eyes! The biggest “firm” at football matches. Evil!
