bristolmoose
He must have felt contact so he’s entitled to go to ground. ©️Alan Shearer

sglosbcfc
Should get a long ban in my opinion. I also hate the fact that ex players say shi*te like, 'he felt contact so he's entitled to go down'. That is total crap, it is a contact sport and throwing yourself to the ground is cheating, end of. Midlands Robin
Isn't the biggest problem the penalty law itself? How was that player denied a clear goal scoring opportunity that justified a penalty? The ball was right in the corner of the box by the touchline so the chances of a shot on goal from there and from the way he was facing are zero. The law for penalties should be rewritten so a penalty can only be awarded if a player was clearly denied a shot at goal. Start awarding free kicks for almost all infringements in the box to reduce the rewards for diving. Similarly, if a goal is prevented by a deliberate hand ball the ref should be free to award the goal instead of a penalty.

It’s then down to the refs discretion and something that gets given in one game won’t be given in the next etc. and you’d get more moments of Colin going ape at an interviewer after a game. You get a clear goal scoring opportunity from a scenario where you probably wouldn’t of scored most of the time.
